I am going on vacation tomorrow and I am trying to find some bread to take with me. I have tried to make some of my own in a bread maker but it keeps coming out tasting like cardboard. I was wondering if anyone knew some good bread that I could buy somewhere. I have a Kroger, Food Lion, Ukrops and a Good Foods Grocery store near me. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thanks! |

Hi Kempsey,
Food For Life Rice Brown Rice Bread is pretty common. I have not tried it. Most pre-packaged GF bread is not the greatest. But...like I said...I have not tried this brand.
I found this for someone earlier:
Kroger can provide GF details of their store-brand products, call 1-800-632-6900 and ask to speak with a dietician to get details for a specific product
I don't have a Kroger by me. Do they have a health food section? If they don't - they may not carry any GF bread.
If you can not find any GF bread...there is always corn tortillas. I do this all the time!
Do you have any healthfood stores in your area? I would check there too. Beware - they may tell you spelt bread is GF...IT'S NOT!! The healthfood stores by me have GF bakers that make bread and sell there.
Also check here for any GF breads:

Maybe your a vacationing where they have a Whole Foods, Trader Joes or a Wild Oats store? Might be worth checking into.
Whole Foods: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/index.html
Wild Oats: http://www.wildoats.com/u/find/
Trader Joes: http://www.traderjoes.com/locations/index.asp
That's about all I can do right now - at work. I could try later.
One thing the GF diet does not lend itself well to is...spur of the moment type stuff. It does require some planning. _________________ Al

| Trader Joes is easy to find in a lot of cities around the country and they have a very good rice almond bread. Good luck. |
