|

Welp. I have been checking my prescriptions, and thankfully, so far they are gluten free. I'm allergic to dairy as well, especially casein and whey. I just learned that a lot of my meds use lactose as filler.
But, if I am allergic to casein and whey, does that necessarily mean that I am allergic to lactose? If I consume the meds with the lactose, will this do damage like the gluten does? Or is it really not that much to worry about?
Thanks! |

Hi Dance,
What you are reacting to are the protein elements of dairy [casein]. Are you lactose intolerance too?
Lactose is a sugar component.

I'm guessing you'd want to stay away from it too. You might check with your allergist on it. _________________ Al

Hi Al.
Thanks for the link, it helps clear things up for me. I don't know if I'm lactose intolerant too. Is it possible to be allergic to the protein, and not the sugar? I suppose so. I'll check with my doc. I'm hoping to get re-tested this week to see where my levels are.
Thanks! |
