Havn't joined you guys in a long time, things were going great. My first year gluten free. Last summer was awesome. Christmas time too.
But all of a sudden I find myself struggling again.
I am thankful to say that I have been doing some races again (any runner's here?), but find it difficult to recover. The entire week after a race is just awful with stomach troubles. I just don't know what to eat anymore and spend half my life on the net trying to figure out what's wrong (and getting really scared). I desperately need some protein. My health food store was out of the SISU protein powder, so I tried some other brand that's GF. Well I had hives for 2 weeks. After a few other flops (broth and some spices) I am thinking that possiblt MSG is the culprit.
Does anybody know anything about Celiac and MSG connection?
Next one is this: why do I everytime I eat potatoes feel like they are stuck in my throat for hours?
Any runner's or other athletes here with advise on what to eat for protein and enery -lots of it?

Heidi

Hi Heidi,

It's good to see you again. Glad to hear you getting back to racing. I used to run in my younger days [Did Highschool cross country and track].

Sorry that you've hit a few bumps in the road.

MSG is nasty - CD or not. MSG in the US is GF. Here's some MSG info for you.

Have you been tested for other food intolerances? Potatoes are a member of the nightshade group. Do you have trouble with: Potatoes, tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, eggplant, tomatillos, tamarios, pepinos, pimentos, paprika, cayenne, and Tabasco sauce?

What other types of protein do you get? Meat, seafood, poultry are some of my favorite types of protein.

You might look thru: http://www.highproteinfoods.net/ WARNING: this is not a strict GF site.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I actually have checked out some of the websites.
The MSG one is where I originally got the idea that MSG just might be a trigger of some thing besides the gluten.
Thanks.Heidi
