As I was doing some research for Peg's SIL I came across their new labeling logo - well - it's new to me as I hadn't seen it before .
Jenni-O is another company that will clear list any gluten in their labels. This is because it's owned by Hormel.
Their GF List
| Quote: | Q: Do you have a listing of JENNIE-O TURKEY STORE® gluten free products?
A:
We are providing the following list of products as a general guideline for those presently produced and distributed in the United States with formulas that do not contain gluten in the form of wheat, rye, oats, and barley. Although our products are labeled in compliance with government regulations, it is always necessary to read the labels on the products to determine if the food product meets your required needs. Parents and individuals with food allergies and/or food intolerances are responsible for reading the label of all products that they intend to use regardless of how the product is represented on this site. If you have any questions, please call our Consumer Response representatives at 1-800-621-3505. |
It will be interesting to see what happens to labels like this once the FDA sets standard as to what can be labeled as GF. Right there is no standard as to what is classified as GF. Come August, it's proposed that the limit will be set to 20 parts per million.
Thanks Jenni-O for helping us out!! _________________ Al

We eat tons of Jennie-O products and I can't say as I've seen that GF logo on the packages. I'll have to check again. I also wonder, I noticed the Beer and Braut where listed as GF? The sweet Italian ssg is very good, my picky 16 yr. old likes it better than the pork ssg we where using. _________________ CD by Biopsy 3/25/88 |

Hmmm I'm not seeing a Beer and Brat item in their list. Can you show me where it is? _________________ Al

Using the link you supplied, on the main page click on bratwurst, next page lists 3 different types and the second one is Beer and turkey brat. I don't see a list of ingredients anywhere, although there is some beer glass shown but I can't read what the label says and I don't know beer anyway. I do notice that on the whole turkeys it doesn't have the GF symbol. I was just curious. _________________ CD by Biopsy 3/25/88 |

Ahhh I see... I was looking in the GF list for it.
I sent them an email about it. I'll let you know what I find out. Knowing the company [Hormel], it will be corrected ASAP.
Good catch!! _________________ Al

This is *probably* because the gravy packet contains gluten. I remember reading that somewhere else. (But let's see what Al hears back too.) |

Hmmm, I had forgotten about this. They never replied back. I wonder if they fixed the website? _________________ Al
