I had a baby shower this summer to go to so I made a quilt for little Rowan. His folks live in Seattle and they're scuba diver instructors. I was going for boy beachy without being too "baby".

I also made a scrappy I SPY quilt top for my babe but still need to quilt it...

Those quilts are absolutely amazing, Jen. I wish I had more time to quilt. It is amazing what differnet combinations of fabrics can turn in to.

Colleen-
That baby afghan is so cute! Can I ask where you got the pattern...or if you made it up yourself? I have a ton of friends who are pregnant these days and I love to knit. I haven't really gotten into doing baby stuff yet...but will likely start soon. Thanks

Wow! Now that's some serious talent. I wish i had the co-ordination to knit, and the patience to quilt, but sadly as i lack both those things i'm stuck with a sewing machine!

It's from a book called Knitting for Babies & Kids by Better Homes and Gardens. There is also a really cute sweater and hat pattern in the same mouse theme. I don't usually buy pattern books that much, but this one seems to have some really cute stuff in it.

We had no baby girl clothes - nothing "girlie" for a girl to come home from the hospital in. My husband said I should draw my own pattern for a dress - so I did. I sewed the dress, my daughter sewed the bonnet and I actually made a matching pair of Mary Janes, but didn't take a picture of them. We had so much fun that we made 6 more dresses and bonnets!! Very Happy

I don't know WHAT I'm doing wrong, but no matter what size I choose when I upload pictures, they post at this small size! It is very frustrating!!!

So cute!!

I got a few home made things at my baby shower - two quilts and a blanket. I can't sew or knit and haven't gotten back into baking since going GF.

Nothing wrong with that! You can be very creative with a machine! When I get my machine out, it is out for weeks as I sew on anything and everything I can think of! Then my daughter will get inspired, pull out her machine and both of us will be sewing away. My husband calls it "The Dueling Machines" and he says he loves the sound of our creativity!

OK. I don't have any pictures yet, but I'm so excited I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas! On Wednesday I start weaving lessons! DH bought me a 4 harness loom at a little antique/curio shop we go to. The lady who owns the shop used the loom for many years and wove beautiful things on it. She needed more room, so decided to get rid of that loom. She sold it to us for an unbelievable price, and on top of that, her mother is going to teach me to weave. It is something I have wanted to do for many years (37 to be exact), and can't believe it's really happening. So, hopefully, in a few weeks I will have a pic of my first weaving. I'm going to start doing dish towels, because they are simple and my beginning flaws won't matter because it is just a dish towel.
