Beam me up, Scotty! My brain is melting from all that detail. Give that Trekkie a big dilithium crystal smooch for clearing that up. My DH and I were once closet Trekkies. Our first Halloween together, we went to a halloween party as Mr. Spock and Yeoman Rand. I sewed our uniforms myself. It probably still fits. I should try it on. Hubs would like that.
OK - So the invisible crime fighting ostrich has a posse of ninja death geese (word!). They roam the streets fighting crime (busting up M&M sorting syndicates), and do so with jazz hands..... _________________ -Colleen

Why do you hate musicals Al? Just curious, because I hate them too. I think it's extremely absurd that people can be going about their life, doing regular things, like climbing stairs, having regular conversations, and then they just break out into song and dance (on the stairs, no less). I remember thinking exactly that as a little kid one day while my mother was oohing and ahhing over some stupid (IMHO) musical. And, maybe all people who hate musicals can't sing, because my father always told me I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. |
Yeah - exactly! I love music - I like plays - I just don't like them mixed together. I'll go to one if I have to, but Peg knows they are not my favorite things to do.
Oh, I need to make a small correction to Tony's part. He is not tone deaf. Tony has relative pitch - he just doesn't have very good vocal control _________________ Al

The hatred towards singing has always confused me. I can understand if you hate the musical genre, just like people hate horror movies. But the singing is supposed to be a better representation of the character's feelings. They're (usually) not actually walking around singing. A good example of this is the songs in Sweeney Todd: My Friends, Green Finch, Johanna, etc. They're all introspective.
If it makes you feel any better, I don't know many guys who like musicals. A long time ago my mom and I went to Cats. All the men in the audience looked like they wanted to die.
Colleen - LOL, will do! He was very happy to provide the information. Can I commission you for Voyager costumes for Halloween?  _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Peg used a rather strong word to describe my dislike of musicals. I rarely use the word "hate" - even in passing comments.
My dislike of them does not diminish my respect of the craft/talent it takes to do such a performance. Lord knows I've done enough technical theater in High School for their plays and musicals. Hmmm, perhaps there in lays the root my issues... _________________ Al

For some reason this thread reminded me of the nerd, geek or dork test that Os posted a while back. It's funny to look back and see our responses.
Carbon footprints, ninja death geese, Star Trek references, etc. it's all too much for me to wrap my brain around on less the 4 hours sleep! I'm going to take a nap and then go play a round of golf.

OK - another benefit to bus riding. Weight loss. My bus stop is a little way from my work, so I have to power walk for 15 minutes or so to get to/from the office (I already power walk 45 minutes to an hour at lunch). One of the guys mentioned today that I am losing weight, and that it's starting to show. He said "Your pants have never fit like that." All the while I'm thinking: I've been here 12 years. Exactly how long have you been staring at my a$$??? _________________ -Colleen

Interesting.. That should make you feel great. Congratulations. and keep up the good work. I wish I had the energy. Too many medications take all my energy away. But you keep it up. Let them look _________________ GF BD 1/4/2008

Oh probably about 12 years now...
Looks like TEC's pole dancing's got nuthin' on C's "Strut It if You Got It" getting to work program. Heheheee
Uh oh...I bet Colleen is getting a bit nervous at work. Better not bend over to pickup that paper clip on the floor... _________________ Al

Colleen,
What a pig! I expect men to stare at certain body parts, but think it's unbelievably stupid to make verbal comments especially in the workplace. Sexual harrassment cases are costly even if the payout is small.
The guy needs a verbal tongue lashing. Now if you're willing to give the guy an innocent show, catch him in the act of staring and then call him out. We were taught the best way to bend over to accentuate the tush in my class. I'll give you a written description if you're interested.

Colleen,
Do you feel the comment was...
A) a meaningless, ill-thought out remark that came out wrong?
B) a pointed and direct comment that was sexually based?
You had made comments alluding that some of the guys didn't have a great deal of experience with women. Sometimes we [both men and women] say things that come out wrong and are interpreted in a manor in which the speaker had not intended - or realized as soon as it came out of the mouth it wasn't good. _________________ Al

How about adding a third option:
C.) a meaningless, ill thought out remark that was sexually based? |

or...
D) a back-handed compliment about weight loss that had nothing to do with her behind [no matter how good it looks] _________________ Al
