I was wondering if anyone would know where to get a gluten free wedding cake... there's a catch. I am near Montreal, Quebec in Canada. I can find such a creature in Ontario, but not here.
Thanks! _________________ Sue

Have you tried talking to your local mom-and-pop bakeries? They might be able to help you out if you provide the GF cake recipe (or even make the cake yourself). _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

That's a great idea. I didn't think of that. I kept looking at the bakeries who've advertised. _________________ Sue

I don't know what your budget is or how many people you are inviting. The costs of a gf cake might get prohibitive in a hurry if you are doing a traditional tiered cake. Strength of the cake might also be a factor as well. Consider doing only the top tier as gf. Since they often use something to separate the layers, you would just have to ask them to be cautious in applying the frosting to the top layer first before they frost the rest of the layers to avoid cc issues. If they are careful, it could be done. Good luck!

Another option (though costly) is to order a GF cake online and have it shipped unfrosted. Then you'd need to get someone to frost it for you. (or do it yourself if you're crafty enough..)
I was fortunate enough to find a GF bakery in my area last year for my wedding. I don't think she ships to Montreal though.
Good luck on your search!! I will keep my fingers crossed!

Expanding on what Sue suggested...have the bakers do an NGF cake and you make a GF cake. That way you know it's not contaminated.
You'd have to co-ordinate the design elements, but I would venture to guess it could be worked out...
Good luck! Please let us know how it works out. _________________ Al

That's what we did, the top layer was GF and the rest of the cake was regular. _________________ CD by Biopsy 3/25/88 |
