I don't know what else to call it - my husband sometimes gets an dark colored line about 1/4 inch long that starts at his upper lip and goes up. Its amazing that it happens instantly while he's eating, so we know he's ingested hidden gluten. His is always in the same place, too. I read about it on a Celiac website once, but I can't remember where it was. I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this symptom. It usually lasts a couple of days. _________________ Judy

No, I can't say that has happened to Matthew. However, I have been checking heavily into the soaps and shampoos we have used on him, because there have been times (especially last month when we were on vacation at my parents house, when he used their soaps and shampoo) He would get many little sores on his bottom. He would get them other places as well, but mainly on his bottom.
I realize this doesn't help you at all, it just amazes me how much Celiac can effect a person.
How long does the line stay? Is it painful for him? |

No, its not painful - it just "appears" and in a few days disappears. Its kind of a dark redish color. I'll have to look it up again and post it here just for informational purposes. _________________ Judy

Darn it! I can't find it anywhere. There was a picture of it, too. Al, do you belong to other celiac websites? Maybe someone there would know what its called. Its hard to look up because I don't know what to call it! _________________ Judy
