I have a 17 year old daughter who is always ill. She doesn't have problems eating food but she is constantly getting sick with whatever comes her way. She loses weight faster than I can blink. Was 108 now 99. I think she is probably enemic but haven't done blood work. Took her to the doctor yesterday and she has a staph infection on her stomach and she has strep throat which had already been treated, finished the medicine day before yesterday and tested positive yesterday. I know in JAMA they say that strep has become resistant to antibotics and the doctor said, that she was the first case he had seen with this resistance. Would any of this be signs of CD even though there is no stomache problems, per say? Thanks! _________________ Nikki from Texas |

Hi Nikki,
Sorry to hear that DD is not feeling well.
Constant infections can be a "symptom". Out of the diagnosed celiacs - only something like 50 odd % had gastro issues . So just because there are not gastro issues...is not a reason to consider CD/GS.
Since you have issues with gluten...it's definitely worth checking DD! It certainly might explain why she's always ill.
Is she taking oral anti-b's? If so, make sure she's eating yogurt (probably NOT the flavored type stuff). Maybe even some Probiotics too. Anti-B's will kill GOOD bacteria in the stomach too. _________________ Al

Probotics..........where do you get this and what brand? Yes we will do the yogurt. I'll go get some tonight. I forgot all about that part. Not flavored huh? I might have to hold her down for that. LOL Thank you as always! _________________ Nikki from Texas |
