Has anyone had evelated alkaline phosphapase levels? Mine have been slight elevated for several years and it is not liver prolems. I have a intolerance to wheat I am sure of and seems to be getting worse. I cooked and ate egg rolls (wrappers had gluten in them) and I have been miserable for a week with bloatling, gas ,constipation ,cramping etc... The strange symptom I have is swelling in my throat and esophogas so i feel lots of pressure like I am being choked. Anyone have any ideas or input ?

Hi Luedy,

Welcome!

I can't say I know anything about alkaline phosphase levels at the moment.

The swelling of the throat and esophagus sound like an allergic reaction (like when someone gets stung by a bee, or eats anything they are allergic to) - which is different from Celiac.

Many times wheat allgeries are mis-diagnosed Celiac Disease. What kinds of tests did you have done?

Certainly your other symptoms are in line with CD/Gluten Intolerance (GI).

If I find anything about AP levels - I'll post back.

Take care!! Poke around out here, there's lots of info and links to lead you to more info!

Hi. I have terrible allergies. Because of gluten or the lack of knowledge in the ingredience, don't use benedryl or Claritin but you can use Alegra. Al is right, you are having an allergic reaction. I just called my father, who is a physician and he said Alegra will help but it might make you sleepy. Also, if you ever have to go to the hospital because of an allergic reaction make sure you tell them about gluten because they will hook you up quickly with benydryl drip as soon as you get in there. My allergies are changing. Got tested yesterday on my back because the blood test they did can back as 2's across theboard meaning I was allergic to everything. When they did the skin test it showed I was no longer allergic to wheat, peaches or avocados but now allergic to all legumes (including soy beans), egg whites, corn, peanuts and pecans. The doctor also said with results like that from the blood test are signs of excema? Thank God I don't have that too.LOL

Good luck

Hi Nikki,

Thanks for the antihistimine lesson Smile Wow - your Dad's a doc?!!?! Shocked I guess I'll have to keep Doctor Rants to a minimum now Very Happy hehehe

So I gotta ask...what does he think of CD/GI knowledge of the medical community? Have you been adding to his CME credits? hehehehe

Thanks again!! I'll have to look at the GF status of Claritin & benedryl.

That's interesting about you changing allergies. Do you notice reactions to those foods now?

Hi,

Does the feeling happen just when you eat or all the time?

Before I was dx hypothyroid I felt like if I didn't take really small bites of food I would choke. It was because my thyroid gland was slightly enlarged.
