Now that I've had my kitchen Aid for about 6 months- I am thrilled that I went in this direction. it is so much more versatile than a breadmaker. I'm especially glad now that my new favorite bread is the Wrap bread.

I love my Kitchen Aid mixer. The only thing I would change is that I did not get the mixer that tilts back and I wish I would have. It is a pain that in order to take off the beater, I have to drop it down into the dough first. Other than that, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Peg thinks she'd like the flip top model too.

I have a bread machine that I loved (and used a lot) before I went GF. The reason I liked it was because I was never got good at kneading, proofing, and rising. With the GF breads I have made so far (like the wrap bread), that hasn't been an issue. My KitchenAid does the work and does it well, and works for more than just bread. I have the 5-quart, lift-stand model and I love it.

Nope, the bowl lift is much better. More power, bigger bowl. The bowl lift and tilt mxers are night and day difference. I've used a bowl lift and it's not a problem at all changing the beaters. The bowl lift are small commercial mixers, whereas the tilts are strictly home use.

That said, my vote is for none of the above and get a rice cooker first. I'll eat spaghetti sauce on brown rice, make sushi, and use it to steam meat as well. I eat more rice than bread, although lately corn chips have been the grain of choice. Embarassed
