Help-I just spent 3 days in the hospital with CD and am depressed and frustrated. We love to eat out, but I am afraid to due to cross- contamination, and not knowing what to order. Can anyone out there help me with this? I would greatly apprecite any suggestions! AND- If there are any in the Denver area who would like to start a support group-Let's DO IT!
Just let me know! Smile

Hi Jewl,

Welcome! Sorry to hear you feelin' down Sad But things will be looking up shortly for you! Check this out:

Deby's Gluten Free, Inc.
Deby's Bakery & Cafe
2369 S. Trenton Way
Denver, CO 80231

http://www.debysglutenfree.com/

This is own by a gal name Monica, it's name after her daughter Smile. They are currently hoping to open by then end of August. She hangs out at the Braintalk CD/GS board.

Many people try to get feeling better before they start to venture out into the risky world of eating out. You are correct - you don't know what you can have and if it will get contaminated. Unless you are going to Deby's GF Bakery.

Some places are better than others when it comes to GF dining issues. I have found the "higher end" places are MUCH more accomodating to your needs.

Have you looked thru the Restaurants thread or in the Dining forum (where this thread is)? There are many of the chain resto's with their GF menus. Outback & PF Changs are favs because they have GF menus and are pretty Celiac friendly places. PF Changs have dedicated GF woks - which you won't find in any other Asian restaurants.

Here are some places listed in the Denver Metro CSA website:

http://www.geocities.com/csadenver17/dining.html#rest_den

You might take along a Dining Card with you. These will explain what you can have and what you can not have. As well as how to prepare it. Another dining card can be see here: http://www.celiacforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=841&highlight=triumph

Hi Jewlrr22!

I am very sorry to hear about this. I have a daughter who have C.D., I remember that my wife and I didn't know what to do, and what to feed her. It just broke my hart. But, we have adjusted, and my daughter is not missing a THING! (probably, she is eating better than us....)

Hang in there! There is a hope. By the way, if you would, visit http://www.glutenfree.com/. You won't regret it, I promise!

I ate pepperoni pizza at Deby's Cafe on Saturday! Yum!

They started their grand opening today. For breakfast they have huevos rancheros (please forgive the spelling!), biscuits and gravy, pancakes, waffles, toast, muffins, etc. They even grind their own meat for burgers and sausages! For lunch they are serving pizza, burgers w/bun, BLT's, tuna melts, soup, etc.

They have bakery items and boxed products (cake mix, pizza dough and bread crumbs) to purchase.

If your in the Denver area, they are giving out free samples for their grand opening!
