I'm still having "incidents" and I'm trying to find the source. I posted a separate item about possible cc issues, but I'm wondering if it could just be that I'm just sensitive to other items. I KNOW gluten is a problem obviously. And I've recently eliminated soy from my diet, which seems to be helping (especially my eczema. I had seen a bit of improvement w/ eliminating gluten, but in the last week and a half, it's gone from "about the same" to almost completely gone w/o any significant changes in my skincare habits -- if anything, I've moisturized less b/c it hasn't been as itchy.)

First, how useful would it be to go to an allergist? Or am I better off going the food log route?

Either way -- I am going to keep a food log, but I'm wondering if you all have any guidance on things to look for as likely culprits based on the following:

-I've noticed the closer I stick to cooking w/ "whole foods" the less problems I have. So I suspect it is something else I'm sensitive to. I almost feel like it might be an additive not an actual food substance. Can these be tested by an allergist? Or am I relegated to a food log and searching.

-I'm pretty sure it isn't dairy b/c I eat it pretty frequently, but don't have issues consistantly (although I'm not completely ruling it out). I KNOW I'll have a glass of milk or some breyer's ice cream w/o a problem. But I know two of the times I felt crappy, I have had "orange" cheeses - Kraft . It could just be a coincidence (hence, why I'm doing a food log). Any suggestions for those?

Any other tips on how to go about this? I feel like I'm searching for a needle in a haystack!

Help!

Yes, the question is how big is the haystack. LOL Sorry you are still having troubles.

You can have sensitivities to preservatives. I noticed on the back of Kraft cheddar, there is a new mold inhibitor added to our labels, so I have gone to buying the store brands that do not have that listed.

MrP is allergic to all additives for preservatives. He is also allergic to corn and the corn by products.

Do you have allergies to mold? If so, cheddar cheese and peanuts might be things that give you a problem.

one other are you allergic to sulfites? Those occur naturally in fruits and veggies as well as in preservatives that are added. You might get some other advice from those that have gone through some of the additional tests. We had some things confirmed by the allergy testing and others, were reactions that I paid attention to and added up with medication problems.

I found the trip to an allergist invaluable. I never would have been able to figure out all my allergies with just a food log. Now I am on a 3 day rotation diet, which is supposed to prevent other allergies from forming.
