I also get this pain, it is in my left side, and seems to be when I get glutened. It is usually accompanied with the gurgling stomach sounds, when the bad food passes so does the pain.

Hi missing pretzels,

I thought it was a cramp (menstrual) but listening to you all talk about it, it makes sense now. I've had about 4 episodes of it...sometimes faint and sometimes really bad - shooting pain.

Some of your discomfort could possibly be made worse when menstruating.

The uterus is situated between - the bladder in front & the bowel behind .

If you have cramp/pain in one it may affect another.

To missing pretzels,

I just had to post real quick when I saw your name. I, too, have been desperately missing pretzels since going gf about 6 weeks ago. BUT... my sister-in-law just gave me a bag of Glutino Pretzels yesterday and I have already eaten most of the bag. THEY ARE DELICIOUS!!! There is a website on the bag, glutino.com, so I am going to order a truck-load! There is indeed life after celiac!!

From a fellow pretzel lover Very Happy
Chris

ok. then, as a newly discovered person with CD, i suddenly realized my amazing powers of deduction. i figured the pain i got to be caused by eating gluten, and it seems i was right. also, how much do those pretzels run?

The pretzels are pretty expensive, about $6 for a 9 oz. bag. But to me it's worth it. I just have to hide them from the other non-celiacs in my house because they all like them too!

Try em!

Hi,

I usually get the EnerG pretzels. There are a couple different types.

I have the same thing too on my right side. Especially in the morning times since switching off wheat. I wonder if it's just our bodies adjusting to the change? Weird.

Look what I found on my gastro's website (which linked me with a larger pt information site) http://www.gastro.org/wmspage.cfm?parm1=689

"Gas can collect anywhere in the lower intestine. Often it collects on the left side of the colon, and the pain can be confused with heart disease. When gas collects on the right side of the colon, the pain can be like that caused by gallbladder disease or even appendicitis."

This makes me think your pain is caused by gas stuck in your colon. At least that is something that can go away after awhile.
