Hi -
I entered an earlier request on the wrong board (symptoms)!
My request was for information anyone would have on both flavored coffee and Diet Soda.
I read a bunch of surprising comments on earlier posts re: the flavored coffee. One of them was Gevalia. The writer said their flavored coffees contained gluten. Since I wouldn't be surprised, I just called them.
The young man that helped me said that none of their coffees had gluten. He put me on hold to go check. When I asked him where his flavorings came from...he couldn't find out for sure, but again said the document he was looking at said "no gluten". I asked him if he could mail me a copy of the report and he said "no", but that I could access their site and ask a specific question and they would be happy to answer.
So, now I don't know WHAT to believe? Do you feel it's safe to "go with their word"? The reason I'm asking is, I had a nasty reaction a couple of days ago and the only thing I can trace this back to is possibly the pot of flavored coffee I made in the morning (that particular one was not Gevalia...but it got me to thinking since I get their shipments e/o month).
Thanks for your help. I am so impressed with the knowledge (and HEART!) that you people have.

Hi Carole,
Yeah, sometimes it's a tough call. One thing you could do is call back (hopefully you'll get a different person - or ask for a manager) or email them to see if you get a different response.
Or...if you think it is the coffee, find a different brand that you feel more comfortable with (and that doesnt give a you reaction). Bottom line - regardless of what the company says, I think you have to listen to your body. If it reacts to it...say away from it .
On behalf of the board - thanks for the kind words. We are all in this together and we gotta help each other out! _________________ Al

Dunkin' Donuts states that the "flavor shots" they use for their coffee are GF. I'd be a little leary about their "fancy" swirls, etc. But you should be safe with their flavored coffee.

This is something I will have to check into. I buy the flavored whole bean coffee at Meijer grocery store. I have NO idea what they use to flavor it with. I had not even thought about it having forbidden things in the flavoring.
Thanks for the warning. I will have to call the company before I buy more of this stuff. |
