Hi there - I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced their itching continuing after their rash was gone? I went off of gluten in late January and my substantial, incredibly itchy and blistering rash went away (thanks to those on this forum for the encouragement!). I find now that there are areas on the inside of my arms and legs that continue to itch - nothing like before, but it can be bothersome. I hate to complain as I feel SO much better (stomach doesn't hurt, no more fatigue, etc.) but if I could get this last bit of this allergy to subside I would be thrilled.
Many thanks! |

Jude, it might be that there was some damage to the nerves in the area as well. Itching sensations normally happen when nerves are healing. It's also possible you just need more time to heal (sometimes it can take a long time to get back to normal), or there's another food intolerance/medical issue.
I have some neurological issues from lyme disease and it's gotten so bad before at 1am I ended up using the only topical pain med I could find at home (neosporin + pain) just to be able to sleep. Just wanted to let you know that it might be best to wait a little while longer to figure out what it is. _________________ Lauren

Thanks much, Lauren. I had so much allergy testing that I doubt there is another allergen, but the nerves itching because they heal makes sense to me. I know I did a fair amount of damage when I was scratching the itch before (I literally had strips of bruising from trying so hard to scratch after cutting my nails short to lessen the damage).
Sorry about your issues with Lyme disease - that sounds really tough also!
Many thanks for your help!
