Has anyone had experience going to a holistic doctor? I attended a seminar last night at our local health food store. It was by a licensed physician who uses a holistic approach to treat allergies and intolerances. His wife is a licensed dietician.
They, of course, use an elimination diet for what you can’t eat. They also talked about using a rotation diet with the foods that you can tolerate. You would eat a specific food every 4th day. For instance, for grain substitutes you would eat onely soy on day one, corn on day two, rice on day three, and quinoa on day four. This is supposed to help avoid becoming intolerant to our alternative foods. This makes a lot of sense to me. Have any of you tried this?
Most of the people in the audience were patients of this doctor. Most were dealing with severe allergies rather than Celiac, but some had that too. He talked about taking artichoke extract to detox for heavy metals as one alternative. They also stress digestive enzymes to help the gut.
I certainly don’t intend to jump on the holistic bandwagon until I give conventional treatment a chance, but I was wondering whether any of you have tried this approach _________________ Judy |
