|
|
| Hi, I am new here. I have many symtpoms and doctors have not been able to find out what is wrong with me. I am wondering if I could possibly have celiac. I did have Candida 6 mos. ago and also 1 1/2 years ago, after antibiotic use. I am not sure why I keep getting that. My current symptoms are a general flu like feeling. I have some joint pain in my hips as well as a hot, burning sensation on my legs. I get a very spacey feeling and a rapid heart beat at times and I am tired a lot. For about 2 1/2 years I have had a skin condition called Granuloma annulare which I am told is some type of immune/autoimmune response. Noone seems to know what it is a response to! Also, the skin on my hands peels. Now my doctor wants to put me on anti-depressants!! Who wouldn't be depressed after not feeling well for 6 mos.! Any help that anyone can give me would really be appreciated. Thanks. |

HI JCCHaplin,
Welcome to the board!
It's very possible it may be Celiac or Gluten Sensitivity. I too felt generally ill - hung over. I didn't really have the joint pain. BIG time brainfog or spaciness!! The hot and burning you feel could be caused by gluten, or possibly a B12 deficency. Fatigue...yup...all are symptoms. I too was depressed from being sick for 1.5 years.
It's not uncommon for docs to put us on anti-d's. They think it's all in our heads!
Have you brought up Celiac to your docs? There are blood test they can do for screening.
I'm running short on time right now. I'll come back and post the tests you need to ask for (if someone doesn't do it before hand ).
Sorry for the abreviated answer...but I wanted to at least reply to you
Glad you're here...poke around there's lots of info, lot's of links. It might help you get some answers.
Take care! _________________ Al

Thanks for the info. Al. At this point, I am afraid to ask my doctor anything, he must think I'm crazy! He is sending me to a rhuematologist in a few weeks and in the meantime I am going gluten free to see if there'e any difference in how I feel. I have read that the blood tests are not always accurate, especially if you have been GF for a while. Is this true? I didn't really want to go through an endoscopy unless I see improvement going GF.
Thanks

Hi, I am new here and still being tested. I have read over and over that you should NOT stop the gluten until after you have had your blood tests and even a biopsy if the doctor is going to do one.
Within a couple of weeks your symptoms could improve a lot and your test results could end up showing nothing wrong. Please consider not eliminating the gluten and getting the doctor to speed up the blood tests and decide if they will be doing a biospy. Also, most people see a gastroenterologist for this problem. Some family doctor's will diagnose you too. |
