I can't recall if we have discussed this product. I would love to try it but (there's always a but!), it contains rice starch. I tested positive for IgG reaction to rice in my blood testing 1 1/2 years ago. I haven't eaten rice or products made from rice since receiving that result.
I am dying to try this yogurt, but am naturally skittish about ingesting something to which I have shown a clinical reaction. I think that the positive was due to an insane increase in my consumption of rice after going GF. I had a little stomach-churning and some blood sugar rushes when eating rice - not like my gluten or casein reactions.
It seems that so many food reactions are caused by proteins. My understanding is that the rice protein is removed in the derivation of the starch.
If you hadn't had a yogurt of any kind in 1 1/2 years, would you try this and tempt fate? _________________ Nance

I guess it would depend on what your reaction is when ingesting rice and if there are any negative side effects long term. I'm not clear on secondary allergies and what the long term effects are but I know with the lactose intolerance I had initially I waited a year and tried again and have had no problems that I am aware of since.
If its not like gluten that could cause unseen damage long term, I would say go for it, and I hope its all you're dreaming of. _________________ CD by Biopsy 3/25/88 |
