Last night our group voted to take June, July and August off. I am really looking forward to an opportunity to rest and regroup. But at the same time, I am afraid that the group will lose momentum and people won't come back after the break. Have any of your groups taken the summer off? How were your membership numbers when you came back after the break?
Now I really have to make the September meeting a blockbuster! _________________ -Colleen

The group I finally made it to in May is currently discussing taking off July and August. From a new members point of view, it is very disappointing although I understand it is very hard for those running it.
I don't know how your meetings go, but would it be possible to do a shorter meeting as an open discussion format or something? That way newbies can still make it and everyone can keep it part of their routine, but no one has to do as much planning for the meetings.
Summer is always hard because there is so much going on and people are probably less likely to go anyway, but you don't want to take the chance of someone never going because you weren't meeting when they really needed it. |

We take January and July off. Never noticed any drop in participant after off months.
To be honest, I'm ready to take the other 10 months off too. |

No breaks for us. It's wearing. We did just get a co-branch manager so that'll help a lot... someone else can plan for a while!
Though we do forgo our regular meeting in May (when we hold the food faire and walk) and Dec. when we have our annual holiday party at a restaurant. _________________ Cheers!

Our group didn't take any time off. I think the open discussion format didn't work as well as I thought though. Our last meeting went a lot longer than usual. The leaders had a couple of topics they wanted to discuss, and it just exploded from there. It was definitely nice to get a lot of info.
We just had a picnic on Friday, so I considered not going to tomorrow's meeting, but even after a year, I'm still all about getting as much info as possible. (I get the majority of it here, but local info is always nice too) |

No break here, but we meet only every-other month anyway. _________________ Al
