This happened to me with pretzels- I got totally hooked and they are terribly expensive. I honestly can't remember how much the schar pasta was...TJ's will definitely be the cheapest though. I'll look next time I'm over there.

I think it was $4ish a package. Seemed reasonable compared to the other's I like. I don't eat Tinkyada or TJs...they both just sit in my gut like a lead balloon.

Maybe...you shouldn't try it. Sometimes it's best not to know what's on the other side of the fence. Wink

This happens with me and pretzels as well. I could inhale an entire bag of pretzels without thinking. I made myself a deal. I only buy pretzels if:

1. We happen to be in the area. It's a 30-45 minute drive to get pretzels.
2. It's something special, like my birthday.

I haven't had the pretzels in about a year. I just can't justify $7 for a bag. I look at them every time I go to the HFS, but I haven't felt "worthy" enough in quite a while. Smile

How 'bout getting a smaller bag - the ones that around 2.00 per bag?

We all deserve $7 pretzels every once in awhile. Smile

Kinda like Spongeworthy? Wink

I know I could buy the smaller bag, but then I get all wrapped around the axle that the bigger bag is so much cheaper per ounce. The I feel bad for buying the smaller bag! This cheapskate thing really is a problem sometimes. Smile

Maybe someone will come up with a recipe for making our own! Think of all the money we'd save then. Laughing

There is one in the CIA cookbook that I got for Christmas. I really want to try it, but we seem to both have that no time disease.

Hey! I made shrimp salad tonight with Schar pasta. It wasn't as soft as I would have liked initially, but after I mixed it up and it sat in the fridge for a while, it was great. DH even commented that it tasted like "real pasta"!

I would cook it a few minutes longer than directions say. It's definitely keeper. Very Happy

The kicker for me with that cookbook is that there are 5 flour blends you have to make up to use in their recipes. I just don't have the courage to do that yet, but I really want to make the pretzels and a few other recipes from the book. I'm beginning to think we need to add a new room on the house to store all the flours and flour blends...
