Hi all,
My daughter is getting ready to go on a trip through school the last half of July. They will be visiting Rome, Paris, and London. This will be her first time on a plane -- and she gets to go big time!. I was wondering if anyone had any travel tips for us. They will be eating breakfast and supper at the hotels and have assured me that she can get GF meals then. The hard part is going to be during the day -- as they will be stopping at street vendors or random restaurants during the day. I saw a post about London -- watch the vinegar and condiments. I'm thinking fruit will be her friend during the day. Does anyone have any favorite 'granola' type bars? I thought that would be easy for her to carry with her, just in case she can't be assured of anything safe to eat. We do not travel very often, so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

I would poke around here but I don't know how good the site is or not:
http://www.coeliaccity.co.uk/

Maybe people would volunteer some info around the locales she is supposed to be. Grocery stores or restaurants or what have you...

The Celiac Societies in each country should be able to provide you with loads of information.

If she can find a health food store, or one that carries Schaer (spelled with an A umlaut) or Free to Eat products, she will be rather safe.

We get a LOT of products from Italy that are GF in Germany, in fact we get more imported from them than produced at home in Germany a lot of times. Laughing

If she can get some traveler's cards in Italian and in French, she should be ok if they are in the hotel restaurant and such. I'd suggest though that the hotel be made aware of her presence long before flying in, so they know what to prep ahead of time. Wink
