the ingred you must look for is modified food starch--if it says food starch, i dont buy it--modified corn starch is fine--i never have used ricotta cheese but cottage cheese has been a staple of mine since i went gf --in michigan i know that country fresh, kroger, michigan brand, pararie farms is gf--just watch the ingred---i never buy deans foods--they will not guarantee their lines---- deb |

Hi Jan,
While I dont 100% know for a fact...I suspect they are. Most cheeses are. Except a lot of Bleu Cheeses - because of the mold - it could be grown on a wheat based product.
I will try to find an exact answer.
I looked thru this:
http://homepage.mac.com/sholland/celiac/GFfoodlist.pdf There are LOTS of ricotta & cottage cheeses that are GF. Look in the Dairy & Sub. section. _________________ Al
