The flu is spread by coming in cotact with germs that people have coughed or sneezed up. Washing ones hands after going to the bathroom has little to do with it. Other than the fact that washing ones hands in general is a good idea, that is.

I have a co-worker who's hands are dry and raw because they're going through a bottle of hand sanitizer every day, and washing their hands every chance they get. That can't be healthy either.

I get concerned for people of over use hand sanitizers or similar products. This could possibly set them up for MRSA and that's potentially very dangerous. I've read several articles saying that soap and water are just as effective at removing germs.

I'm sure there are times when soap and water aren't available and the sanitizer is a quick fix if it's not overdone. I carry wet wipes in my car for just that kind of event.

Wondering what you all think about:

1. the media's treatment of this disease and developing story
2. the liklihood of this flu developing as per the 1918 flu
3. what you are doing to stay healthy

The media is as usual trying to scare everyone, as if we were all going to die from it. Concerning the liklihood of it developing into something more serious I doubt it, but then im no expert on the subject.
To stay healthy I just eat a salad here and there and try to ride my bike as much as possible.
