Hey Al and others. Will be going to Wisconsin in September for the Jazz festival in West Bend and the opening Packer Game. Anyone have suggestions on Restaurants ect for me? Also is there a good health food store in Milwaukee? I haven't lived in that area for over 8 years and wasn't gluten free then. If we have time, we may cruise up to Door County for a couple of days! _________________ Kathy |

Milwaukee is getting better and better for options these days! Slow and steady...
Stores in the area:
Whole Foods http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/milwaukee/
(I eat there often, all of there hot/cold bar items list all the ingredients, great sushi!)
Beans and Barley http://www.beansandbarley.com/ (they have a store and a restaurant. Good food, all of the servers are trained, the have ok rice bread for any sandwiches, amazing guac/salsa!)
Outpost http://outpostnaturalfoods.coop/
(Also have a deli in the store, delish bakery items)
Good Harvest Market
http://www.goodharvestmarket.com/our_stores/location_and_hours.html
A family member lives in West Bend and the Pick n Save there does have a small shelf of gf items, but they tend to shop in Milwaukee.
Restarants:
Here is an article (a little old) from a Milwaukee website,
http://www.onmilwaukee.com/dining/articles/glutenfree.html there are quite a few here, but there are so many more that are willing to work with you!
Some more faves:
Five Guys Burgers and Fries (at Bayshore Towne Center Mall)
Balzac
http://www.balzacwinebar.com/ - one of our favorites, they are very CD friendly, and willing to work with you, the chef usually comes out.
In Green Bay there is a place called Fratello's (also one in Mke, but haven't been there yet) and a friend said they have gf on their menu.
Hopefully that helps! Enjoy your time in Wisco! _________________ "To give up enthusiam wrinkles the soul" |

Thank you for all your great suggestions! Fratello's sounds italian....yum! I lived in Wisconsin for over 7 years (my husband started the Machine shed restaurants) and loved how green and beautiful Wisconsin is...looking forward to a much needed vacation! _________________ Kathy |
