We're spending the first full week of July in New York, going there for a conference. We're in a pretty nice hotel with a fridge on the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn brridge - and there's a Trader Joes few blocks away.
We don't have Trader Joes in Canada - any hint or tips ??? I will probably be eating almost exclusively in the hotel room, packing lunches for outings. Not too good with a lot of dairy either. I will probably bring some Lara bars & Mrs. May's bars in my luggage but of course one can only bring so much across the border and no liquids. My family travelling with me is very supportive but I'll need some tips I think !!! Ugh, one can only eat so many bars !!! LOL
Also - any GF restaurants in the area ? We will also be spending a day in Central Park....any near there ?
Thanks ! |

| Torrey might be able to help with this. I know she frequents several gf restaurants in NYC. |

You might check out the Celiac Chicks website. I believe they are based in NYC.

When we are in town we always go to Risotteria, the food has always been superb. We've had pizza, cookies, breadsticks, and cupcakes.
My daughter was so excited to go into a restaurant and have breadsticks on the table that she could eat. |

Bump for more restaurant ideas! There's a chance I'll be in NYC over Labor Day weekend. So far I've found Ristteria and Friedman's. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

I know Sambuca's has a gf menu. I went there pre-gf and it was amazing. But I haven't been able to go back so I can't speak to the gf menu/cc issues. _________________ Rachel |

Darn it--I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner!!
Yes, Risotteria is a teeny, tiny, GF restaurant which just happens to be walking distance from my office...yup, kind of dangerous!
I have heard of Sambuca, Rachel, but I *still* haven't gotten over there...I have heard very good things about it, though!
I'm wondering--did you get a chance to hit Josef's Gluten-Free Bakery? It's in Brooklyn (although I don't know Brooklyn AT ALL!), so I'm just curious...also, I believe the catering company called Everybody Eats is out of Brooklyn as well...
And again, I know this is severely overdue, but here is a link...

So sorry I didn't see this post until now! _________________ ~Torrey

Thanks very much for the link, Torrey! Those little "last updated" tags are nice. I decided not to go over Labor Day, but I'd love to go with DH in the future. So I'll keep this thread in mind.  _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={
