Hello
I'm new to the forum and new to CD. I have not been diagnosed and unfortunatly, I don't think I ever will be but I am positivly sure of having CD. At any rate, I have had DH for a few years now but also something that has been much more extreme than the DH and that also went away completly once I went gluten-free. In fact, after the instant DH reaction, it's the next thing that shows up when I have ingested gluten on accident. Does anyone else have any problems with acne sometimes even cystic like acne that turns into festering sores? They take sometimes months and months to go away, they are very painful. I seem to get these every time I have been glutened in the last six months and before I went gluten free they covered my legs the backs of my arms and my face... it almost seems like the infection in the acne would eat away at the skin below as the acne got bigger and bigger and no amount of cleaning, neosporin or anything else would make it go away... they just continually filled up with massive amounts of puss. My husband wondered whether my body was pushing toxins out through my skin, I still wonder about that!
I know it's gross but imagine how I was feeling having this all over me. Every one has left a scar, so my face, arms and legs have huge poc like scars all over the place. I am wondering if anyone else has dealt with this problem... i feel very sure that this is a severe reaction to gluten since it's the first time in 8 years, since adolecents that I have not had acne alll over my face! I have not made any other drastic changes to my diet so it has to be CD but I have not read as of yet, anyone having this problem. Anyhoo, any kind of imput is appreciated!!!!

If you have DH then you have CD. Goes without saying. Is your doctor confused about this? Confused
Have you considered having these sores cultured to see if you have picked up MRSA or some other secondary infection?

What is MRSA?
Also, I was not diagnosed with DH either. But the reaction is instant and obvious as soon as i have gluten. Not extreme like some of the cases I have read about thank goodness.

Its a type of staph infection that is getting unfortunately common.

Quote:
Staph skin infections, including MRSA, generally start as small red bumps that resemble pimples, boils or spider bites. These can quickly turn into deep, painful abscesses that require surgical draining. Sometimes the bacteria remain confined to the skin. But they can also penetrate into the body, causing potentially life-threatening infections in bones, joints, surgical wounds, the bloodstream, heart valves and lungs.
