Double what you see here! This is only 25lbs.
Jules Shepard was running a special last week - Save 20.00 on 50# bag of flour and free shipping. Peg & I were talking over this offer. It really is a good deal monetarily speaking. It's only 2.60 per pound.
However, 50# is a lot of flour. It does have a 15 month shelf life at room temp, so we'd have a considerable length of time to use it. We tried to think of someone to split this with. There's only 1 family in our support group that bakes, and they probably wouldn't spend that amount $$ on that amount of flour. I asked "What about Judy, she bakes, maybe she'd be willing to do it?" After that conversation we just dropped it.
Not 12 hrs later, we got an email from Judy asking if we'd be willing to split the 50# bag! How cool!
Judy was kind enough to order the flour and do the actually splitting of it. Thanks Judy!!
Peg has been re-working many of our recipes and having really good results. She's been using 1/2 Jules and 1/2 sorghum to replace any of the "hundred" flour mixes she's been playing with over the years.

LOL! I probably shouldn't tell you about the 150# of flour I am picking up in the 31st.
Sounds like you got a good deal. _________________ -Colleen

We had a hard time finding a place for this. We probably need to get actual containers for freezer storage. I'd feel better if there were some more protection. I can see those bags getting holes punched thru 'em. Right now I have them most of this flour in an aux. fridge freezer downstairs. I would put it in our chest freezer, but I need to get a container first. _________________ Al

And here I wondered who bought those GIANT bags of flour I see (at our GF grocery store). Now I know! _________________ Cheers!

I should have taken pictures when I was measuring the flour. Talk about "Phoofing"! I was really careful about what went into the bags, but I've got to tell you-- I looked like a ghost when I got through. I would do it again in a heartbeat, though. I can't even imagine what the shipping would have cost.
I haven't tried the flour yet. I've been baking bread every week, and suddenly my freezer (top of the fridge) has reached it's capacity. I will send pictures next time when I get back to it.
Thanks, Al, for splitting the "bootie". _________________ Judy |

| Because my family is so large and I do all my cooking and baking from scratch, I frequently purchase my flours in 50 pound increments. Makes the shipping cheaper through UPS. |
