Not me, but my dear old Dad - 80 years old and having ankylosing spondilitis, iritis, low iron and has been taking folate for _years_, has a nephew with RA, 2 daughters who at least are gluten-intolerant and a celiac grandson, and a granddaughter with neuropathies - was told by a physician's assistant that she didn't think he needed the celiac blood panels done.
Shocked
IF she had said, "well, you're on methotrexate and Remicaid and I doubt the tests would be valid," I might understand. I don't know that those meds would do that but I do wonder if he could have a valid test, which is what I have asked him to ask Drs. Right now he has a couple other med things on his plate but I did ask him that if they parade him thru a gastro's office again, that he ask THAT Dr. about whether the blood tests would likely be valid or not on him.

I am just shocked at the ignorance. Mayo! Mayo is supposed to be on top of sh*t.

Which Mayo was this at? If he's at MN, see if you can get him to see Dr. Joseph Murray. He's a top celiac doc.

Mayo also has an AZ clinic too.

Thanks as always, AL!
He has been seeing Drs there in the MN clinic for years.
I will let him know about Dr. Murray. He may not get around to that for 6 months though. His ears perked up a bit as I told him about Prof. Alan Ebringer and his AS diet and the overlap between it and a celiac's diet and IBS and all. He may be considering this if he gets through his heart surgery coming up alright.
I'd like to just put him on a GF+AS diet and see what happens personally but it's not up to me.
