It looks like you guys had a great time. Hopefully some people on the Left Coast can have a get together sometime soon. _________________ -Colleen

I noticed it on Judy and Al's other encounter picture as well as this one. You two look like you could be brother and sister. Glad y'all had such a good time! _________________ Steph |

Lol Al. I was more than happy to make the drive to eat there again, and to have such wonderful lunch companions.
(It's a 5 hour drive as long as I don't hit traffic in Chicago--I'm not sure how I was lucky enough to miss any traffic this trip. I decided if I ever really wanted to, I could go there and back in one day, but that would be crazy ) |

Second this! And I'm still hoping for a meet for the few of us in the middle of the country.  _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

I'm hoping that someday I can make it to the quilt museum in Lincoln NE, and if I do, I'll make sure we meet. _________________ Steph |

I've been to one in Kentucky that we came across one year on vacation. We really loved it!
I envy all of you who were able to meet at Bunky's over the weekend. I wanted to go, too, but if anything else had been scheduled for that weekend, I would have gone stark raving mad!! I had promised my adult son (who is also BiPolar) that I would drive down to Univ. of Chi. for their Celiac Screening test. (He wasn't comfortable driving in Chicago, but then, neither was I!) My husband had agreed to help teach adult Cub Scouters about campfires at a Baloo training in the **far Western suburbs**, so he couldn't have been able to go with me to Madison, WI. As it turned out, it was more exciting then it should have been. As it turned out, University of Chicago was much more exciting than it should have been. I managed to accidentally lock my key in my car as I got out of it to follow my son. Who knew that Campus Security on a big urban campus gets weekends off??? In any event, poor husband had to leave the training and drive clear in from Naperville with the only other key, while I waited out in the cold for him to appear.
Boy, did I feel stupid and wish that I were on my way to a lovely lunch in Madison!

Al, thanks so much for making the arrangements for the Meet Up. It was awesome!!
Rachel and Caroline, it was great to meet both of you. I felt like I already knew you from reading on the Board. I hope we can have many more Meet Ups.

Oh gosh! Sorry to hear that. No worries, I'd venture to guess there'll be others!
Judy, Rachel & Caroline - You're welcome. It was my pleasure to arrange it!! _________________ Al

Apparently, one of my last posts didn't get submitted (I more than likely typed it and then didn't hit submit).
So... thank you Al for arranging the meet-up. It was great to see you and Peg again.
It was wonderful to meet Judy and Rachel too. I love meeting people from the forum. It's like meeting long-lost family members.

When: Oct 24th, 2009
Where: The Bar - Wausau, WI
Who: (L to R): Al, Sarah
Why: WI's Largest GF Food Expo
Wow - this has been a long time in coming. It's been a busy week and I haven't had a chance to work on this.
The Wausau and Northwood's Celiac Support Groups put on a GF food Expo. It's billed at WI's Largest Food Expo. Considering the lines of people, I'd have to believe it! One of the things I've been working on is a reporting of this event. No, it's still not done. Once I get it done, I'll make a post.
After the Expo we went across the street to The Bar for a late lunch. We probably didn't really needed lunch after sampling all the goodies at the expo, but it's hard hard to pass up a place that has a GF menu and understands CC. You can read about my experience at The Bar - Oshkosh here.
At the Expo, The Bar was handing out slices of 'za and samples of Redbridge. So, I decided to get a pizza for lunch and fries too. Again, it's hard to pass up fries since they're so hard to come by. Yes, they have a dedicated fryer for fries and chips.
We met Sarah & Mark [and Caroline] back in April at the Thrive Expo in Chicago. Since Mark and Peg both work in the healthcare field, they have some common ground for discussions. Always interesting discussions!
We had a great lunch - spent about 2 hours hanging out, chatting and getting to know one another. Thanks for hanging out with us! _________________ Al
