Prepping for a variety of tests tomorrow. In all reality, I don't expect the Dr to find anything AT ALL and to tell me all my guts seem fine. Doing the upper endo and the lower scopy.
Ok, breakfast is homemade chicken broth. it's almost clear, you know how that homemade stuff is... and green tea.
I also have Cran-Grape juice to drink. I'm not a fan of just drinking sugar all day though. Are there any of these new-fangled drinks that are clear, would qualify for Prep Day and have protein added?
Just checking since many here have been thru so much. _________________ son - high ttg - 4/09, pos. biopsy 5/09

Good luck tomorrow. They may not like the Cran/Grape drink - don't know if you're planning on drinking that before the test or not. They don't like stuff that's red.
I think just drank plain water... _________________ Al

Thank you. I'll double check with the nurse. My list says Grape Juice is ok but does not mention red stuff or cranberry. I remember that from my last colonoscopy, "nothing red". They don't let us have Jello now, did you know that!?! Which makes me think that I will stop with my broth at 1pm when I start the golytely. My homemade broth is probably somewhat gelatinous... _________________ son - high ttg - 4/09, pos. biopsy 5/09

Yup - they wouldn't let me have jello 7 years ago No biggie for me since I generally don't eat jello. Unless it's Jello brand pudding _________________ Al

I actually had a discussion like this with one of my coworkers not too long ago. What about Gatorade? You'll need the extra "oomph", and it tastes good. They even make dye-free versions now. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

I should pick up some colorless gatorade! I called again and the nurse said the CranGrape is ok. Anything with artificial red colors is not ok, hence no jello but also they should have included red powerade and gatorade which she told me is a no-no. The yellow, green and colorless gatorades are ok by her.
This golitely doesn't seem as nasty as it did 7 years ago. did it change or will I be SOOO sick of it in a few more hours that I'll be repulsed again? no need to answer, of course, I will probably be sharing my misery if it comes to that...
These scopings were not ordered for celiac diagnosis btw. But the gastro is very sympathetic to my plight. Hopefully he will take a few samples of the small just to set my mind at ease about possible damage... _________________ son - high ttg - 4/09, pos. biopsy 5/09

Not really. I'm still in hospital from a microperforation!
AGH! but I am definitely on the mend. I don't have any referred pain in my shoulders, my nausea has quieted down. etc... My temp just won't come down though my white blood cell count is normal. I want to go home. I think the temp might come down if they took me off of Cipro, an antibiotic. It makes my arm ache, whichever one they put it in and makes me nauseous. The last dose, the nurse gave me an anti-nausea med and that REALLY helped. I sick of getting stuck with needles too! HOw am I supposed to make any more red blood cells if they keep taking them out to run tests!!
ok, juts venting directly from the hospital bed. ain't technology great!
p.s. I have been fantasizing about the salmon on plank dinner. I don't when I Will be able to stomach it. I was thinking maybe I could get it and eat it just in nibbles over a few days. _________________ son - high ttg - 4/09, pos. biopsy 5/09

Sorry things didn't go well! I hope you are back to 100% very soon.
The only thing I would say about the salmon is don't do it until you feel perfectly well. My experience has been that eating a favorite food, when I'm still nauseated for whatever reason, is that I never want to see that food again.... at least for a very long time. _________________ Steph |
