I am new to gluten free recipes. Is there such a thing as a good white bread recipe? I have been using the one in the Gluten Free Gourmet. Sandwich bread is the only thing I really miss.
Thanks!

Have you tried kinnikinnick.com? They have been a lifesaver for me and my 11 year old son. I buy all their bread ready made - hamburger buns, english muffins, bagels, sandwich bread. They do also have a sandwich bread mix which I have purchased but not tried. Their pizza crust is also delicious, all my kids and their friends like it. Oh, and their celiac flour is a staple for me. I can substitute it for regular flour in banana bread, choc chip cookies, etc. and no one can tell it is not wheat flour. I would honestly be lost without this company. I am trying to get Trader Joe's to carry their line. Only downfall, their shipping is $10 for every order. I just make sure I order a ton! I freeze it the minute it arrives at my door. Make sure you cut the bagels in half before freezing - they go in the toaster more easily! Good luck.

My wife says that the only thing she has found so far that helps in baking bread is to use "Dough enhancer" from Gluten Free pantry. Must still handle carefully but does make a huge difference... Also I have found that in sandwiches if you toast the bread (in the old way) with light butter on each side and lightly browned in a skillett, it seems to help a lot and adds to the overall flavor..

Tapioca bread is really good. It's better than regular sandwich bread acutally. It's called "Tapioca Loaf" and it's made by Glutano. Try it some time. Speaking of breads, does anyone have a good baguette recipe? I have another post about this too, but I can't live without baguettes!!!
