San-J has a wheat-free tamari sauce that I have seen at both Kings and Whole Foods.
As a matter of fact, I have it in my fridge.
Good luck to you!

There 2 versions of this...a Wheat free (GF) version and a regular version. Some stores (like my Pick n Save!) will display them right next to one another...you need to look carefully at the bottle. They do have different labels on the (different colors).
http://www.san-j.com/pages/tamardsc.htm - the Wheat free version is the 3rd & 4th product in the list.
This is the label:
or they now have GF reduced sodium:
Here's the ingredient list:
Organic Wheat Free Tamari Soy Sauce
INGREDIENTS: Water, Whole Soybeans (OCIA certified), Salt, Alcohol (to preserve freshness)
There is another product that other like it's called Bragg's Liquid Aminos
Happy eating!! _________________ Al

| Hi Torrey, I have purchased that tamari sauce, however, it just says it's "wheat free" and not "gluten-free". I called the company, and they said they cannot guarantee cross-contamination. |

So, basically if the plant where the tamari is manufactured makes both "wheat & wheat free" sauce, I would assume that is why they won't make any guarantee of cross-contamination?
Also, I would really like to know HOW serious is even a speck of wheat in some goods to the Celiac? I have been on my diet 7 days, and am learning all that I can and cannot have. I am being strict as I know how to be, but how strict is strict, when it comes to eating & as well using personal care products? My doctor didn't really seem to have any directio nor advice, other than eat a "gluten-free" diet! |

Hi Brian,
This is a pretty widely accepted and used product. It's been awhile since I've done research on it - so I can't say what others have experienced. I have a friend that uses this w/o problem. She is pretty sensitive.
Heeding their warning is never a bad idea. Although, their warning maybe a their standard CYA response - many companies do that.
There is always LaChoy...that is GF. Or the Braggs. _________________ Al

Very strict. A GF diet is a zero-tolerance diet. There is no cheating. Everyone will have different sensitivities to it...but...you need to be GF. I'm sure others will chime in...some here are very sensitive to very small amounts and have serious reactions. Others like myself...are not very sensitive and will only experience reflux or other minor disturbances. Everyone is different. Even though we may not feel the results, your body's immune system still has kicked in and possibly doing damage.

You need to check everything you come in contact with. Shampoo, soap...everything.
It's not uncommon for the docs to dx you, then send you on your merry way without know HOW or WHAT to do after that dx (when it comes to carring out the GFD). That's why places like this exist _________________ Al

I appreciate your post Al. It would be easy to think you can tolerate some wheat especially when your symptoms are minimal, but it is the internal damage being done that is so important.
I just haven't had any direction as to what I need to do in order for me to be completely gluten-free, as in a step-by-step guide. I read along and hear that I shouldn't lick envelopes, then read along and hear I should buy a new toaster for myself (which I did), but where is the all inclusive list of what I need to be doing?!
This forum has greatly helped and opened up lots of awareness that I needed to be alerted to. |

Hi Brian,
Have you seen our GF diet Boot Camp Thread? This covers a lot of the basics...cross contaminations issues, types of things to eat, etc...
It has lots of links to many of the important "just starting out" type info.
Your "How Strict is Strict" question needs to be addressed in Boot Camp too. It is a common question. Thanks for the "reminder" I'll add that when I get a chance.
Hope you hang out with us for awhile. I think we can get you going in the right direction!!! Don't be afraid to ask questions _________________ Al

Go to the health food store & buy ya some:
"all natural BRAGG liquid aminos"
it is an all purpose seasoning from soy protien, a delicious healthy gourmet alternative to Tamari & soy sauce....
No preservatives...Gluten Free...no alcohol
And it comes in a neat spray bottle (as well as others)
I love it _________________ Pam

There's also one from Eden foods which I'm using now:
http://www.edenfoods.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=29_60&products_id=106980
I can't tell you if I've have reactions to it yet since I still have lots of bad days, which I'm always told is because it takes time to heal. Hopefully that's it since I try to watch everything...
Bragg is really good too. My mom uses it when I come home, and she likes it even better than Kikkoman! I'm not totally sure if I'd agree, but it is really good. |

Along with Bragg's Liquid Aminos, which is delicious, there is a product called Quick Sip by Bernard Jensen.
Has anyone had any problems with that one? |
