Basically, I want to try and make my own Soy Milk. I got a recipe from someone at work, but I want to know if soya beans (or soybeans) can be considered gluten free.
I was reading somewhere about Hydrolized Vegetable Protiens (bla bla bla) and a whole bunch of other things that might make it contain gluten. It's all just really confusing to me, as I'm pretty new to this whole thing.
Does anyone know if soybeans from the store are safe? Will Organic ones work?? |

Hi Noobman,
Soybeans in-and-of themselves are GF. I suppose there might be a cross contamination possibility during harvest/shipping/processing them. I don't think I've heard of those issues like you hear with oats.
This indirectly discusses soybeans and mills and x-contamination: http://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=202
What type of blender or device are you using to do this? I know someone who makes their own rice milk with a Vita-Mix
Let us know how it turns out!! _________________ Al
