Someone came into my shop asking for snack ideas for a 4 year old child. The food must be:
gluten-free, dairy-free, bean-free, cocoa-free, nut-free, rice-free, food dye-free
Can anyone give me any ideas? I have found one pancake mix that the child can eat and i am going to do more research right now. If you know of any items, mixes, recipes, or just have some ideas, Please help!
Thank you!

Wow - that's quite a list to deal with. Poor kid. How about potato chips - regular or baked. Baby carrots. Or celery with pumpkin seed butter - I don't think that's a nut, I think it's a seed. Maybe hard boiled or scrambled eggs. Cut up apples or fruit. Frozen bananas dipped in chocolate are good - maybe they could find a carob that would work. How about smoothies made with soy milk and frozen berries? _________________ -Colleen

Hi,
You'd have to find a dairy free choch. There are several out there. Tropical Source is one such product. It's pretty good. I dont know about the nut free from a mfg stand point. _________________ Al

Corn thins are good, too http://www.cornthins.com/content/tabID__3824/ORIGINAL.aspx They are just corn, sunflower oil and salt. They are good with deli meat or jam. _________________ -Colleen

Hey there guys,
Wasn't there a company called Vermont Nut-Free Chocolates? Or something like that??
Ah, yes, I just found the site: http://www.vermontnutfree.com/.
Maybe that would work? I am reading the site now and it says that the dark chocolate is technically DF, but it is processed on shared equipment.
As for Al's comment, I have some of that Tropical Source (dark chocolate with rice crisps) at home and it's pretty good!
I feel bad for the little kiddo--that is definitely quite a tough list.
I'll stay on the lookout.
Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestions. Let me clarify one thing - I meant chocolate when I wrote cocoa - it is a bean. I will try the links you gave. I appreciate everyone who is brainstorming to help me help this family!

How about a trail mix made with various dried fruits (pineapple, raisins, etc) dried shredded coconut and pumpkin or sunflower seeds? _________________ -Colleen

Here's a guy that sells recipes that look like they would work - they don't seem to have any ingredients on the no-no list.
http://www.buckwheatpete.com/
I don't know anything about this site or the recipes, so I cannot vouch for how they taste. I just saw it on Delphi forums today.

I have a few recipes that I could send to you via PM or email if you are in need of them.
Has this lady tried to cook with Teff Flour? Amaranth? Potato flour and starch? Tapioca starch?
She could make a mix of the flours to have as her basic flour to cook with.
I have a few substitutes for milk items that are also soy free.
Popcorn and then do a syrup over it to make popcorn balls or similar to Cracker Jacks.
Sweet potato sliced similar to french fries ........fry them up and instead of salt, they could put sugar and cinnamon on them.
If the child could have carob, they could dip some strawberries in melted carob.
Fozen banana.
Is coconut a true nut? therefor it is off limits as well? _________________
