Oh, I feel like I'm Little Miss Chatty today!
In any event, I forgot to say that I went to Houlihan's (it's a restaurant chain by me...) with my BF for dinner the other night. I was perusing the menu when I noticed that as a "low carb" option, you can order the fajitas (steak, chicken, or veggie) with "lettuce cups" instead of the traditional (and wheat-filled ) tortillas.
Of course, you should still notify the waitstaff that you are GF, but I thought that was pretty cool because I really missed having fajitas, etc. They were really yummy!
Keep smiling!

You're too funny, Torrey!!!! That little devil face alongside the wheat filled tortillas cracked me up!!!!
Lisa's pet peeve.....if they can offer those nasty wheat filled tortillas, why don't these people realize we can eat the corn ones? Well, those of us that aren't sensitive to corn. Many restaurants will offer these great dishes and then offer the wheat version only. Grrrrrrr!!!!! I know the corn ones are a bit more challenging to roll up with stuff inside as they are not as pliable as the wheat version but come on! You generally have to go to an authentic Mexican restaurant to get the corn ones. I just hate that!
Actually, since this lo-carb craze has set in, it's been a boon for Celiac's as many restaurants offer all these variations to keep the dieters happy. Thanks for posting Torrey...there are Houlihan's near me so I'll keep that as an option. |

Yes...I no longer get that "you have a 3rd eye" look from people when I order stuff w/o bun LOL
I don't know a great deal about Fajitas (I like to pronouce the j as a G/J sound instead of the proper H sound, ), but isn't there a Fa-GEE-ta seasoning they traditionally put on there? Is that stuff GF? _________________ Al

Good morning!
Thank goodness it's Friday!!!
That's a good question about fajita seasoning...have to check on that one...I know generic taco seasoning is off the list of friendly foods, but I am not sure if Houlihan's uses any sort of wheat-y fajita seasoning...we'll have to do some research!
Have you guys ever seen "Napoleon Dynamite"? It's a quirky kind of movie--one of those you're not really sure if you like it or hate it, you know?
Anyway, the grandmother pronounces the word quesadilla like KES-AH-DILLAH and so I totally cracked up when I read FAH-JI-TAH!!!
Ok, time to go get ready for work--it's Friday and supposed to be 54 degrees today! WOO-HOO!
Keep smiling, all! Will write more later!
