Hi all!
Yes, I know...it has been a while! Embarassed
In any event, I recently noticed that Annie's (the mac 'n' cheese folks) has now developed a gluten-free mac and cheese!! I have not tried it yet, but I just ordered a couple of boxes. I'll let you know how it is as soon as the UPS man brings it by! Smile
If you guys are interested, the Web site is www.annies.com and this is what they say:
Quote:
From the time of Annie's first product, a small but growing group of you who are wheat- and gluten-intolerant have suggested we produce a wheat- and gluten-free macaroni and cheese. It may seem a wheat- and gluten-free product has been a long time in coming! Thank you for your patience and support. Please know it has been especially gratifying for us to create Annie's Rice Pasta & Cheddar and to have it produced in a wheat- and gluten-free facility.

Here are the ingredients:
Quote:
Rice Pasta (Rice Flour, Water), Cheddar Cheese (Cultured Pasteurized Milk, Salt, Enzymes), Whey, Buttermilk, Butter, Salt, Annato Extract (Color), Natural Flavor.

Good eating to all of you! Keep smiling!! Very Happy
~Torrey

Road's Ends Organics also makes a GF "Mac and Chreese" Its also dairy free and vegan. I ordered some from www.chreese.com. They sell it at Whole Foods as well. I thought it was good...I have no recollection of what real mac and cheese tastes like though Very Happy

Hi Torrey!

Welcome back!! LOL

I'd have to try the Annie's Mac n Cheese again. I tried it right after I turned GF...I didn't like it (cuz I still remembered what Kraft Mac n Cheese tasted like.

I suspect I'd have a different opinion now :lol

I'll look for the other product....THANKS!!

I really like Pastato Mac and Cheese. It's the closest in constistancy that I've found. The Pastariso Mac and cheese isn't as good. (I've tried both). Even my ex boyfriend liked the Pastato Mac and Cheese - and he wasn't GF. (Unless I was cooking...) Wink

I went to a Danna Korns lecture the other night and she said that if you LOVE Kraft Mac and Cheese, buy the Annie's, throw out their cheese package and use the Kraft one, it is Gluten Free!!!

I bought some of the Annie's brand at Winco last night to try it. I almost had a coronary because it cost $2.70 a box! Oh, well. It will be interesting to try it. But I may switch to melted Velveeta and GF pasta - that way I won't go broke getting a mac and cheese fix!

I'm the CD in the family, and I don't eat mac and cheese, but we have a GF house, and my daughter LOVES mac and cheese . . . she says Annie's boxed is pretty good, although she prefers Amy's (but it's pretty pricey, and the way she eat mac and cheese, she has to watch the pennies!). You'll like the Annie's I think -- she's a mac and cheese snob, so her word can be trusted!

I've been keeping a list of GF foods that I've tried and like (so no more re-buying stuff I don't like). I do agree that Amy's (frozen) mac & cheese is a little bit pricey, but... it's the best, in my opinion. Plus, it's EASY to prepare. Very Happy

Hi
I am a celiac x 1 yr and have been eating kraft mac and cheese packet with quinoa elbow shells. It is awsome. You would never know the difference. The cheese pk is in a foil pouch and has gf ingreedients and like the celiac expert Dana Korn says..... go ahead and enjoy! The cheese packet is ok for us. Why spen $2.70 a box for that crappy annies stuff?

ps all my blood work confirms that this is GF as I have had a full panel every 3 mo and they aleays come back negative for gluten plus I feel great after evey meal.

Can you get the Kraft cheese packet separate or do you have to buy the boxed mac'n cheese and take the cheese packet from the box? I would see that as kinda wastefull, but I LOVE the way Kraft Mac'n Cheese tastes! Please let me know!

My family loves the rice elbow noodles and just put plain velveeta cheese in until melted and they woof it down.
