I'm in Shelby Township, Michigan, north of Detroit.
And Fla doesn't have giant cockroaches--they have PALMETTOBUGS! Haven't they told you that? They also don't tell you that they're damn near indestructable too! I LOVE Michigan--most of the time.

I live North of Detroit, in the suburbs. Deb, I have driven through your old area when I went to college in Big Rapids, but that was quite a while ago. NickisDragon, we are almost neighbors.
The reality that warm weather is over here is setting in. I need to grab a fleece jacket to take the dogs out, I am looking for warmer clothes and all those "summer is over" things. I am not a winter person. |

| I never enjoyed Michigan winters and I moved 800 miles away to have the same winters here. We had more snow here last winter then I remember having in Michigan, but they are very good about cleaning it up --I was not late to work once. Everything is pretty much the same here except for the ocean--it is so majestic. I love it here! I live in E. Islip, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York--and it is nothing what people think it is like here. The traffic is the worst I have ever seen and I am still happy here. Deb |

Hi:
I'm here in Hurricane Central, aka...Florida, but far enough away from the storms in Daytona Beach. Thank you all for your great advice! |

We live in Peoria, IL for the past 2 years now. Before that, it was Rockford, IL, Nashville, Tn. Going back to childhood- Edgerton, Wis.
DH's family all live in Rockford, but I would like to head back south again at some point. Ky or Tn... just not back to Nashville, but boy is it sure beautiful down there this time of the year.
I like it here in Peoria, but it's just not home. I think it's mainly because we're here alone, without extended family of any kind. My family is so spread out, the hopes of bringing any of us together, is far fetched.
I think back to my childhood, our whole family was all in one state... now the nearest family memeber is 6 hours away. It makes things hard... especially when in need of family support when dealing with celiac. *sigh* |

Hi Shi,
WOW!! What years had you lived there? I had not heard of that place. I did a google - nothing came up. I have friends in FDL. I went to Tech College there. Spent WAY TOO MUCH time at the Main Exchange and several other bars. Ahhhh the good ol days
We avoid the Dell's like the plague heheheehe WAY too many tourists and very crowded.
Yup the winters are cold!
A vision of what's to come:
Ya wanna come help me shovel??? LOL _________________ Al

Hi Al,
My dad retired from the army in 1968 and took a job as Chief Veteri narian for the state of Wisconsin. In nearby Oshkosh was a bar that had the walls and ceiling completely covered with pennies! I graduated from High school and went to Penn State while they lived there until 1971 when my dad died. My brother, however, married a FDL gal and goes back just about every year to see her family. I haven't been back since '71, so maybe the Penny Bar closed down without me! It was something, though! _________________ gf since 3/27/04 |

Al, don't rush it with those snow pics! I am still in denial (as I sit here with the outside temp early this morning at 34 degrees) that winter does not HAVE to come.
Where I live we get usually about 30 inches of snow a year (average) but the cold lasts way too long for me. |
