|
|
I have a LOT of discolorated spots ALL over my body and have seriously wondered if it could be DH. Does anyone have this type of DH? Somewhere (I can't remember where) I read that DH can present it self in this manner. The dermatologist didn't know what to do and the biopsies came back negative. Any clues as to what this could be if it is not DH? Praying that someone has some clues for me to investigate further. Blessings to all of you! _________________ Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,
What color are these spots? Do they look like bruises or purple spots?
DH is usually red, liquid filled ,itchy blisters. Photo's of DH _________________ Al

My husband's DH look like little blisters full of water. They itch, burn and hurt. Never any discolorations. _________________ Judy

The spots started out being brown spots on my legs and trunk areas. I didn't say anything to my doctor early because I kept forgetting. They started about the same time as my gluten intolerance/lactose intolerance symptoms. Then they started coming as red bumps and some of them started itching a lot. That's the way they start now. I've been gluten free since July 31 and had hoped the spots would go away because of that. But they keep coming and still come as red spots and are itchy in the beginning. I have been treating them with a prescription hydrocortisone cream (that my primary care doctor gave me) twice a day since May of this year and that helps but they just keep popping up. At this point they are on my legs, trunk, chest, arms, and face. That pretty wells covers my body! Sure praying that I can find some answers soon. Thanks for all the input. Blessings! _________________ Carolyn

They sound like "cafe au lait spots" -- and as the name implies, they are the color of coffee with lots of milk in it. I have a few of them -- for me it's a marker from my bone marrow failure disease.
Other times there's no reason, and nothing to worry about. Ask your doc to be sure.

I've been to my primary care dr. and a dermatologist. Neither knows what this is. I googled "cafe au lait spots" and got some insight into them but still not sure if this is what I am dealing with. No problems with the spots except that they "just are" and there are so many throughout my body. No symptoms of any other thing going on in my body that I'm aware of. Sure praying that I can find out more. Thanks for your help, Lexi. I appreciate it. Blessings to you! _________________ Carolyn

Just wanted y'all to know that I did an iodine patch test (per instructions on www.celiac.com) and discovered that I DO have dermatitis herpetiformis. At least now I have confirmation of what I had thought it was. Praising the Lord for showing this to me and for the cream to treat it until the gluten free diet kicks in for it. Blessings of hope and peace to all with DH. _________________ Carolyn
