Hi all, this entry may be a bit winded -- so read .. but be warned Wink

I know it must get old hearing that I work at Wild Oats Natural Marketplace. Well, this place has been my sanctuary .. my ideal grocery store that carries the most Gluten Free items here in Nebraska. I was looking around our Holistic Health section and saw a book titled, "Wheat Free, Worry Free .. The Art of Happy, Healthy, Gluten-Free Living" by, Danna Korn. The book goes for $14.95.

A blurb:
Wheat Free, Worry Free is a practical, comprehensive, and inspirational guide to living a wheat-free, gluten-free lifestyle. Millions of people are choosing to eliminate wheat and gluten from their diets due to medical conditions such as celiac disease (sprue), gluten intolerance, wheat allergies, and autoimmune disorders. Others believe that dietary intervention programs are effective in reducing or eliminating behaviors associated with autism, ADD, ADHD, and related syndromes. And yet still others are eliminating wheat or gluten from their diets for personal reasons.

Wheat Free, Worry Free answers the many questions that people have concerning that unique challenges faced by those on a wheat-free or gluten-free diet. It helps take the fear out of eating, and teaches and encourages people to deal with the wheat-free or gluten-free lifestyle in an optimistic yet realistic manner. Loaded with practical tips, recipes, menu suggestions, and ideas for traveling and eating out, it also delves into emotional issues, and the psychological implications of dietary restrictions.

This work includes extensive research on several medical conditions that require a wheat-free or gluten-free lifestyle; in-depth nutritional information; and a comprehensive, up-to-date Resource Directory that lists contact information for hundreds of companies providing products and servuces for those interested in exploring the diet. With its humourous, easy-to-read approach, Wheat Free, Worry Free is the perfect book for anyone interested in leading a happy, healthy, wheat-free, gluten-free life!

I was at my Sun Harvest (now owned by Wild Oats) when I was told it looked like I had Celiac Disease & picked this up with yet another Bette Hagman cookbook. I have several gf cookbooks from when we tried GF w/ my autistic/asperger daughter.

I'm reading the book now & it is very good. I laughed when I saw her last name: KORN!!! My friend saw it & laughed, too!

I thought it was SO COOL that our allergist is quoted in the book! The section on Autism & foods has some quotes by Dr. Kniker, my daughter's allergist! He does a mediator release test, very different from your standard allergy tests. He has an adult autistic son, which I don't think is mentioned. He is very in tune w/ foods affecting behavior & affecting the whole body. However, he did NOT think my dd should be tested for celiac, as it was just "part of being autistic". I am now going to try to have this done.

The book has helped answer a lot of the questions I'd never found before, such as what are the consequences of untreated CD. I couldn't find many answers out there, other than the chronic tummy issues, but my tummy issues aren't as severe as most CD's (or the typical CD sufferer).

I do recommend it, also!
