Another recipe from one of my favorite cookbooks. It is called Marnie's Kitchen Shortcuts (ISBN 031214119X). I'm not sure if it is in print anymore, but you may be able to get it from the library. This is way cheaper than buying packets of taco seasoning mix and you don't have to worry about gluten!

Taco Seasoning Mix

1/4 teaspoon paprika
2 teaspoons onion flakes
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon garlic salt (I usually use garlic powder bacause I don't like it quite so salty)
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon cumin

Add this and 1/2 cup water to 1 pound cooked ground beef. Simmer 15 minutes, or until the water is cooked out.

This is good for my kids (not too spicy), but if you liked a little hotter, you could easliy add more chili powder. Sometimes I add a small can of tomato sauce instead of the water becasue I like the flavor that it gives to the meat.

Hope this helps someone.

Sounds good! Thanks for posting it!

I have one of those "Top Secret Recipes" books, and there are lots of good things in there -- I EVEN made my own KFC chicken strips! Just altered the recipe to make it GF, and voila!

THe only thing about all these great GF foods and recipes -- watching my weight! I'm 5'8", and used to weigh 118 -- won't even SAY what I weigh now, but let's just say I have to count calories some days! (Plus, hitting 50 in a few months doesn't help things!) Laughing
