Several co-workers and myself are getting together later this week for a going away party for a friend, and she has been very helpful to make sure I can have some of the appetizers that she is making. She has brought me empty containers from Wal-Mart's Great Value brand. I tried to call Wal-Mart for any gluten-free listings or help, and they only could give me the Celiac.com website and one other one that is not specific to their products.
She brought me Great Value 1/3 less fat cream cheese, and Great Value Marshmallow Creme.
Does anyone have any input on these products? The label looks fine, except the creme says "artificial flavor" and I don't know what that would be? |

Hi Brian,
I think you maybe got a rep. that didn't have a clue...or maybe not the right department. Did you tell them you wanted to check the gluten free status of cream cheese and marshmallow creme?
When talking to these people, I will usually say "I need to speak to someone about the food allergens of your product". Then they will route me to whoever. Once I'm in the right department, I will then repeat the question again and add "specifically gluten".
Walmart has changed their labeling for their store brand items...so they are more clear about the allergens.
I might try calling back, you'll probably get a different person.
Good luck!! _________________ Al

| The Wal-Mart "Great Value" products that are GF say gluten free on the products themselves. It will be located after the ingredient statement. |

They only say Gluten Free in the states. For some mysterious reason , Wal-Mart in Canada is not following the U.S. with the Great Value GF labelling.
It makes me both and . |

| I do remember someone mentioning that before. That's a shame because it is both helpful and economic for Wal Mart to label products as such. |
