The links for Citric Acid are no longer available. Does someone have more info on this? _________________ Amy - Mom to two kids, one with Celiac, and assorted pets... |

Thanks for pointing this out. They just need to be edited. There was a hacking here and things go re-arranged.
If you run across a link like this:
http://www.celiacforums.com/fourms/viewtopic.php?t=61
It should read as: http://www.celiacforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=61
The /forum needs to be taken out.
I have edited them, they will work now!! _________________ Al

Hello everyone...I am new to ALL of this!
In July my then 7 year old daughter Kimberleigh was put into the hospital for severe dehydration(SP) Every test under the sun was run on her and they could find nothing.....her stomach pain, vomiting and diahreah was still present when we went home! She got a little better for 2 days and then we were back in the hospital! The Dr ordered a Cat Scan which showed a place in her small intestines that needed to be checked out! So I had 5 minutes to pack her things before the ambulance was there to transport us to Childrens Hospital for a battery of tests! When we arrived at Childrens we were placed in confinement!!!! WHY????? All of her tests were NEG and no one else in our household were sick! (sorry this is so long! it has been a long road!) We spent 2 days there with all the same blood tests being run that the other hospital had already done! WOW they were all NORMAL!!! They told us nothing was wrong with our child! To take her home and let the bug run its corse! And that she was big enough to know when she was getting dehydrated! WHAT!!!!
I returned to our primary Dr on Monday and she was MAD!!!!! No scope was done or any other tests they told her would be preformed when she transfered us there! She made us a appointment with a Gastro specialist in Huntsville (3 weeks later) He talked ot us and scheduled a scope for the next day.....he believed it was Crohns. When he left the operating room he was 100% sure it was not Crohns....I was blown away yet again! WHAT WAS WRONG????
I recieved a phone call 2 day later from his nurse that he found several signs of Celiac.....I had never heard of this! So I was suprised, but yet happy that maybe we finally had some answers! He wanted the blood test done to confirm! After the test we went GF! The best I could with as little info as I could read on line! The blood tests were NEG! OK...so the improvement we had in those 2 weeks came WHY? We went back to see him and explained that when Kim was on the GF she was slowly getting better and as soon as she ate anything containing Gluten she was balled up crying and in so much pain! He has since placed her on a complete Gluten Free Diet! He said he has seen stranger things, but he knew what he had seen inside of her and it was definatly Celiac!
I am slowly learning the process of all this! I sometimes feel so alone and no one understands! Thanks for this site and all of each and everyone of you! My husband has been in such denial and has said surely a little won't hurt her! She accidently got ahold of something and has spent 2 days in bed! (and bathroom) He now realizes what can happen...I hope!
God bless all of you and sorry this is so long!!! _________________ Thanks for the input! |

Gosh I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that! What a nightmare! It sounds like your daughter is just the same age as mine is. Rebecca was 8 on August 18th.
I feel lucky that we did not have to go through much to get our diagnosis (a few months of stomach pain, diarreah, and nausea - then a referral to a pediatric gastroenterologist who figured it out with blood test and endoscopy right away).
However I still can identify with going through the shock and the learning curve. And I know how your husband feels too. I had some moments of thinking that a little couldn't hurt. But then I got to these fine forums and learned otherwise!
You have come to the right place. I hope we can both make life bearable and then wonderful for our girls. _________________ Amy - Mom to two kids, one with Celiac, and assorted pets... |
