Doing nothing for an hour (having lunch -- a margarita, and some fresh tortilla chips with homemade guacamole -- and going online), and thought I'd just say hi, and see if anyone else felt like checking in and saying hello as well?
Quiet SUnday afternoon -- very strange to get up and see that it had rained during the early morning (well, misted might be a better word). We usually only have rain in June and November, about an inch a year total, and so I was shocked when I got up and the street was wet!
Otherwise, I'm working on my back patio -- very difficult work physically, but rewarding. Had to dig up the clay about 3-4" deep, then I got a bunch of the red brick squares that measure 12" x 12", and am doing them checkerboard, and then in-between, pouring mortar and setting in little stones and pebbles in designs, using old shells, broken pottery, rocks, and the like . . . It's an area about 6' x 10' -- off my back step. It'll be a nice place to hose off in summer before coming inside. THis will keep more of the desert out of my house, I hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIghting the dirt is summer is a never ending process, and I don't even want to dscuss the windstorms!
ANyone else? What are you up to today (or Monday, if you don't come online today)? |

Oops--sorry I didn't see this until today (Tuesday)!
I didn't really do much over this long weekend...went to see "Curious George" with my mom (she really wants to see "Nanny McPhee"), so that was cute.
Oh, and get this--I actually cooked this weekend!!
I got a recipe for Red Curry Vegetables off of the "I Am Gluten-Free" blog and adapted it a little bit. It was SO yummy! I love Thai food, and this dish was SO easy! Honestly, it took about 20 minutes total and was delish--thank you, "I Am Gluten-Free!"
The recipe called for lite coconut milk, red curry paste, basil, chicken stock/broth (I used organic, free-range chicken stock, but that's my preference), brown sugar, and fish sauce. I used Perdue Short Cuts and a red bell pepper in place of the other veggies that were called for.
Once everything was simmering and the flavors were coming together, I made a quick boil-in-bag Success Brown Rice and mixed everything together. It was quite yummy.
I have to get on the ball (like Al) and take pictures of my food, but I just had to share. _________________ ~Torrey

THat's okay . . .
I saw Nanny McPhee two weeks ago, with my granddaughter. It's really sweet and funny and worth seeing. We're doing Curious George next weekend.
Your dish sounds good! |

Hmm...seems to me someone is procrastinating!!!
There's half an hour between those two posts, mister!
Ah, I'm just teasing!
I just put in a load of laundry, so Jake, Kona, and I are watching "The Santa Clause 2" downstairs. Yeah, I know it's a silly movie, but it's a cloudy, windy, and chilly day, so I needed something brainless to watch on TV!
John's "down south" (Jersey shore area, where he used to live) getting his taxes done right now, so I'm just hanging out in my pj's with our animals. _________________ ~Torrey

hehehehhe Oh yeah...procrastinating BIG TIME!!! But I was working tho...posting out here HAHAHAHA
I saw SC1..I don't think I saw SC2. There's nothing wrong with mindless movies. If they make you laugh...laughter is good!!
We saw 8 Below last Sunday. If you're a dog lover, you'd like it.
OK...I've now moved 2 boxes to the storage shed...what's next... _________________ Al

LOL!
Actually, I *do* have fuzzy kitty slippers, but I was wearing my Adidas slides (kinda like flip-flops, but with the band across instead of that funky thing between your toes)...kinda like these, but navy blue (my favorite color):
And I've got velour-type cheetah/leopard print pajama pants from Old Navy (my fave store), so I was in true comfy mode!
But, alas, I have since showered and put on my big-girl clothes HAHAHA!
(Yeah, Old Navy jeans and a sweatshirt )
Hmm...now on to do something productive... _________________ ~Torrey

Hi all,
Still lying low. Went out and taught a class this morning (first one in days), still dragging from this virus. Back in bed now, drinking spearmint tea and surfing online.
Otherwise, it's so nice here -- 70 today, climbing up to 80 by Monday. I'll go out and lie in my chaise later this afternoon, and the suns rays will make me feel better, I'm sure! Already sporting a pretty good tan this year.
A little down about this week's CBC -- not to whine, but counts have dropped. It may be just due to being sick. I can hold my own pretty well if I'm healthy, but if I tax my body and cell production by being sick, it fails. I just hate living every single day with this hanging there over my head. And every once in a while, even I turn human and whine. SOrry, I know it isn't celiac related, but I have to whine anyway. I know I wouldn't get as sick with things if I had normal blood counts, and if I had lots of marrow to make lots of cells like everyone else. Waaaah.
OK, whining is over -- I'm going to read the boards and play backgammon with AL, who is apparently doing LOTS to avoid his work! (My daughter can always tell when I have lots of work to do for school -- she'll come in and I've been cleaning the house, washing all the curtains, cleaning under the fridge and washer, waxing floors, then I move out to the yards and trim and mow, lay new stones on the paths, then decide the hub caps are so dirty I couldn't possily drive around like that another day . . . All sorts of strange tricks to avoid what needs to be done. Currently, I have to read a book this weekend and hold an online discussion with some colleagues about it on Sunday evening (bell hooks), but I really like her writing, so it won't be too bad. THere's no need to get up and start cleaning cupboards and closets to avoid it!
OK, fingers typed out! Have a good weekend, everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Sorry to hear that Lex Having to deal with that can not be easy. You can whine any time!!
I hope you get over this bug that's got ahold of you!! You don't want to be sick driving all that way.
Take care!! _________________ Al
