When I was shopping a few days ago I was wanting to get the Prog. mushroom soup and none of the place I went to seem to have any. So I came home and went to United which always has it and they didn't either. Seems they are deleting it from the shelves. I told the manager it was the only GF mushroom soup that CD could use and also those who had wheat allergies and could he see if they could return them to the shelves. Is anyone else have their store discontinuing that item. I just hope I can find some when I am in OK city. _________________ Donna

Donna,
In the recipe folder you will find a thread called 'cream soup replacements.' There is a recipe for cream of mushroom soup there.

Thanks TEC, yes I know and I have my own replacements that I like for cream soup, but pout, pout, stamp my foot, I want to have a can of prog. soup that I can go to open, pour cook. If I go see my daughter, I want to take a can with me, pour it over my roast and go about my business. _________________ Donna

Donna, it sounds like they are out of stock by you, maybe they have it where your daughter is? Maybe she could call around and ask her local stores? _________________ Al

I can't find it here in Olympia, WA either. I have tried Fred Meyer, Walmart, Safeway, and Top Foods. No one carries it. I have requested it at Safeway, but haven't heard from them. _________________ Connie

Thanks Cindy for posting! I have to drive right past an Albertsons tonight when I take my son to drivers ed, or should I say he takes me. Scary! I will stop by and see if maybe they have it. It would be nice for those times when I need to hurry and get dinner done. _________________ Connie

I forgot to stop! I think I was too shaken up from driving with my son. He took the turn into his driver ed place way to fast and I felt like the van was going to tip over! I don't know how I got stuck with training all of our kids to drive? I'm gonna have to check for grey hair after him, I think.
I stop today when I am out shopping and then let you know. _________________ Connie

Donna,
I couldn't find Progressive mushroom soup in my local grocery either. I talked to the store clerk and explained it was gf and I wanted some. He said the manager will generally order things for people if I put a note in his office for Monday. I haven't yet due to many other stores in my area. I called Progressive and spoke to an empathitic woman with onion allergy's(she felt avoiding gluten would be easier-more mainstream). She said no stores within 100 miles of my area carry it. She said only 22 % of the stores carry it and it sells very well were it is carried likely due to it's gf status. She is sending me an order form to buy a case(12 cans) from the company. she said the price is $24.95 unsure if that includes shipping? Here is the number if anyone is interested in getting some this way 18002009377. I may search the stores more(don't necessarly trust the zip code search?) or ask the manager of the local grocery to order it first? I can now at least say it sells well in the sores that carry it.

| I just found a new soup that I think just came out - Health Valley organic cream of mushroom soup. It's good. |

Jim, I just saw the post you sent me. I had called them and didn't get the offer you got. My store even checked with them with I asked if they could special order it but they couldn't . I may recall but I think I will first check the soup out that jfvp suggested. Thanks _________________ Donna

I'm going to try and remember to check and see if the stores by me have it...being so close to NYC (it's about 30 minutes away--not even), the stores tend to be pretty good about carrying GF stuff...
I'll keep you guys posted and I'll let you know a) if I find it and b) how much it costs...
Worst case, maybe I could ship it out to you all...

| I rely on this soup for all of my casseroles. I have tried the others but for those of you who grew up on Campbell's this is a better choice. Progresso is more like a home made than Campbell's obviously machine made but the consitancy is about the same and so is the mushroom flavor. I recomend that if you find it get several cans. Best of luck. ~Duchess |
