Hi Gloria,
Welcome to the board! I hope you hang out with for a bit - we'll try to help you along in your GF journey 
There are several dressings that are GF. Annie's has a whole line of GF dressings. Kraft has many. They are a GF friendly company, they will not hide gluten (modified food starch, natural flavors, etc) if it is present.
I have heard that Mexican food is an ethnic food that is GF friendly. Although a local "mexican" place I went to last week was not very friendly. The owner was not very helpful 
Is your family not understanding your gluten problems? Family is the hardest when it comes to understanding whats going on. The usual response is..."Oh come on, a little won't hurt you". Hopefully in time they will see the improvements in your physical & emotional well being to realize that you need to be GF.

Gringo's in Houston has a gluten free menu! I'll post next week with everything they have for us. They were so busy today they forgot to give me one.

| I've heard that Outback Steak Houses have a Gluten Free Menu. Also, if you live by a PF Chang's, they have one also. I live in Minnesota so I can't be very helpful but I believe these two restuarants are Nationwide chains. |

I use the EnerG breads -- the only way that they're good is if you toast the bread. Once you do that, a BLT is just like the old days! Love the burger buns, too, but again, toast them. (I also like to split the burger buns, toast and butter them, and then sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar and have them with my afternoon tea. Mmmm . . . (Just mix your own cin-sugar -- using McCormick's, of course.)

| My family ate at the Outback Steakhouse last night and we had a wonderful dining experience! My son and I both ate off the gluten free menu. Even dessert was great. I loved the Gf brownie! |

I use all the Wishbone Salad Dressings. Never had a problem. Fast Food: Both McDonalds and In-N-Out Burger (California) will make a lettuce wrap, hamburger without the bun. You can get all the other goodies in it that you'd get in a hamburger. Both of their fries are g-f, too. Tony Roma's regular bar-b-que sauce is g-f. Don't get anything that has been marinated there, but the ribs haven't been marinated, and they are deeeeelish!
If you're big on ribs, Lucille's has regular b-b-q sauce and ribs that are g-f.
she'll also make you a gluten-free Flourless Chocolate cake that is to die for. When I go there, I get an appetizer of ribs and a piece of cake. It may not be healthy, but it sure is good. Also, Saz's in Milwaukee has a g-f b-b-q sauce. If you're not near there, they'll even send it to you for a price!
I'm getting hungry writing about all this food, gotta go get filled up!

When you go to McDonalds do they know what you mean by a lettuce wrap when you ask for it? I once asked to have my hamb. placed between 2 pieces of lettuce with the fixins and they looked at me like I was crazy. I finally just said give me the hamburger with everything but no bun. I thought maybe you have just trained your McDonalds. I know when I go to certain places they now know what I want without asking.

 When this happens to me I like to say, "Yeah okay, and you can have a little rat poison sprinkled (on whatever it is they're eating). Agreed?"  That usually helps them to understand just how toxic gluten is to the celiac. I hope you can help them to not take your condition too lightly.

I went to the Texas Roadhouse in Kenosha?, WI (right at 50 and the tollway) last Saturday (Oct. 21st) and they printed out a GF menu for me. The waitress was aware of what was on the GF menu and was very attentive to my needs.
I had a good dining experience. Funny prior to my diagnosis this was one of my favorite places to eat. I always had the basic steak & potato many time skipping the rolls as they always made me feel "too full" little did I know. |

This makes me very very sad. It was one of the few places I could get fries out. (Not that I did it often when I went there - fries are still bad for me even if they are GF...) Texas Roadhouse was also one of the few places I could get buffalo wings. Guess I'll have to spread the word to my friends and family that Roadhouse Gift Certificates are off the list now.
On a happier note, my BF has to go to a meeting in Cambridge MA tomorrow and is bringing home takeout from PF Changs. YAHOO!!!! So nice to be able to have GF chinese food from time to time. And, since he can get non-GF chinese food, the leftovers are all mine.

I found a great website called Celiac Handbook http://www.celiachandbook.com . They've got hundreds of restaurants listed around the world and in every U.S. state. I noticed that some of them had dedicated GF menus and a lot just said ask for assistance. I think it's definitely worth looking. |
