Hi!
I am so tired of ordering salad every time I go out.
I am living in CT, Hartford area. Someone please share with me nice restaurants locations with gluten free menu.

I moved from Hartford a few years ago, so I'm trying to remember what restaurants are in the area (I lived in Farmington and West Granby). What I can tell you is that PF Chang's, Outback Steakhouse, and Carraba's Italian Grill (sp), all national chains, offer gluten-free menus. You need to be very careful about sticking to those and not asking them to prepare something else gluten-free because often the cooks will not know how to properly adapt something. Hopefully that helps!

I live in New Jersey but the Ruby tuesday near us and I guess nationally changed the menu and offer a lot of low carb dishes. They make a great cheesecake and you can order a baked potato as an entree with brocolli.
Their half rack ribs are gluten/wheat free.
With atkins, people don't look at you so funny when you order a burger without a bun in most places now a days.
With Outback make sure you specify no croutons on the salad or else the server will bring it out with them on since most of them are premade.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a chain of restraunts that were allergen free.

Outback Steakhouse has wonderful items listed on a GF menu! This is a popular restaurant here in South Florida. PC Changs is an oriental restaurant chain that also caters to gluten intolerant customers.

May serve you well if you call a restaurant (preferably well established one) and tell them your diet concerns and you could be very surprised how caring some can be.

My wife and I talked to our daughter's nutritionist about this topic. She had a list of restaurants that would haved G.F. menus in Colorado. So, I am just wondering if you would be able to talk to a nutiritionist, or health care provider about this....

Fear not!! I talked to a rep at Red Lobster last week. In the next couple of months they will be listing gluten free items on their menu. Olive Garden & Cracker Barrel will be doing the same (they are all owned by the same company).

I had eaten at Red Lobster the week before. Had the broiled Salmon (yummmm) - it is broiled in it's own tray. I asked for no seasonings of fish or veggies. It talked to the local manager and she said they were changing their policies on GF and that I should talk to corperate...I did...that is what I found out.

Maggiano's also offers a gluten free menu; you just have to call ahead. The chef came out to meet me and discuss my menu options. They have a separate kitchen dedicated to food allergies. It was a great experience for me!

Many chains use the same pots of boiling water to reheat pasta AND veggies - so check on this. You could be getting plain veggies...that were reheated in pasta water.

A line cook told me this.

If you live in Minnesota there are a couple options

Chipoltes (sp) You can eat everything there except the flour shells and one of the red salsas. I don't remember which one. I just aviod all of the red salsa's.

Outback Steakhouse has a gluten-free menu

There is a restaurant in Minneapolis called Wildfire that has a GF menu. I have not been there yet.

There is also a PF Changs in Maple Grove

If you are craving a dessert there is a fantastic bakery called Bittersweet bakery located in Eagan. But, you can also buy there desserts at Fresh and Natural grocery store in Shoreview.
