Red Wine

I am a bit confused about whether or not Celiacs can drink red wine. Some sites say yes and some say no. What's the truth?

to that question. Although I have another one, what about meat. Can you have pre-packaged minced beef from Safeway? Please forgive me if I am asking stupid questions. I'm sure I'll be an expert in a little while.

Hi Fiona,

I don't have a safeway in my area so I couldn't tell you. You always ask the meat dept. manager or check the ingredient list on the package. In this forum (proper foods) there is a safe & forbidden food ingred list. Read look thru the ingreds and see if anything turns up.

Don't worry about asking questions...that's what places like this are for!!!

Yes all wine is GF. Winecoolers are another story - some are GF some are not.

As far as wine goes... I have only been drinking wine made in the USA per a handout I had been given when first diagnosed with CD. I will try and find it but I think it had something to do with the distillation process. michelle

Al you mentioned the winecoolers possibly not being GF, do you know of any sites that list which malt beverages/ wine coolers are GF. I like girly drinks and can only drink so many things with vodka (gets boring).
