Was wondering if any of you have been suffering from a nasal-throat-sinus-headache bug recently?
This started about two weeks ago(the day of my granddad's funeral) with a sore throat. Then a few days later I had sinus symptoms-sore face, headache, that strange 'feeling' behind the nose and above the throat. At that point I went to the doctor who said to try decongestants around the clock for 48 hours. He also wrote a prescription for an antibiotic and told me to fill the antibiotic if I was having the same symptoms 48 hours later. 48 hours later came and I got a cold, lost my voice, but the sinus and throat issues were gone. Of course I didn't fill the prescription. Today my cold is a bit better(I've only gone through half a box of tissues as opposed to 2 boxes), but have the sore throat again and another sinus headache.
Not sure what to do next...back to the doctor I guess if I don't feel bettter tomorrow. Any suggestions other than huge amounts of vitamin C, decongestants, ibuprofen, sleep, lots of fluids and need to invest heavily in Kleenex?

Hey TEC,
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well
Up Nort' there's some resp. stuff going around. Lots of hacking, coffing, horking, wheezing and geezing.
Peg had it worse than I did (<whispers> I think it's cuz I'm GF hehehe). Sounds similar - it comes and goes.
Hope you feel better soon!!
Also sorry to hear about Granddad's death...if you posted about that before - sorry if I missed it. Tell me that's not the same Grandparent you are/were making their anniversary cake for.
Take care!! _________________ Al

Hey Tec,
Sorry to hear you're not feeling so well...
If you'd like some serious company here's some misery...
I personally have been trying to avoid "the house of plague"... my sister and her whole family have been really ill. It started with my niece who's in preschool and came home with a nasty flu bug, fever, chills, upset stomach, runny nose. Then my poor BIL caught it which turned into a bronchial infection - he went on antibiotics... then my 7 month old niece who had all the above symptoms, plus throwing up and a nasty diaper rash except it went into pneumonia and they nearly hospitalized her about three days ago! Instead they sent her home with some whopper of an antibiotic cocktail with the instruction that if she didn't improve in 24 hours they'd meet her at the pediatrics ward in the hospital. Luckily she responded well to the meds and is doing a lot better. My sister's been dealing with a mild fever and migraines. Now my poor Mom has it and is laid up with symptoms similar to what my BIL had.
Needless to say, I haven't seen any of them for a few weeks... yikes! _________________ Cheers!

Al,
Sorry to hear that Peg has a similar illness. I do feel better today, but I should as I slept close to 11 hours. Today the sun is shining and it's already in the high 60s. This weather could cure any ailment!
No, my granddad who died is my other grandfather. He had been struggling with end stage congestive heart failure for several months. He and my grandmother were married 70 Decs, 70 Jans, 70 Febs and 70 Mars as she like to point out. The others will ONLY be married for 60 years this month.
TEC
Jenn,
Please follow this advice even in weak moments! Stay FAR, FAR away from the House of Plague and any other family members who get it!
Thanks for the misery. It's just what I needed.

Sorry you guys are feeling low. I had it a month ago and it turned into pneumonia so I know the pain....
Oregano is very good for the immune system, particularly for bronchial/sinus issues, but it has to be "wild" oregano not the pizza spice.
(It's actually hyssop). Oregamax is a good brand and it comes in capsule form--which is a good thing 'cause it tastes awful. Most health food stores carry it. Get well soon. _________________ The opportunity to find happiness dances within every moment, beats within every heart, and grooves within every occurrence, situation, and event----Let's dance!.
