I promise I won't... besides it takes up too many brain cells to remember all those short cuts...
Sarah, are you okay? Sarah? Take nice deep slow breaths...
Oh! And Happy Easter Everybody! _________________ Cheers!

Okay. . . . okay. . . . Okay, good. Yes, that would be nice, Fidissimus. Thank you. Has anyone found any spare brain cells lying around? I think I lost some and trust me, they are precious and few. I'll need them back if I'm ever going to survive this stupifying experience. Maybe they rolled out of my mouth when it was left hanging open for so long back there. And I'm pretty relieved to learn that I'm not the only one who thinks the short-hand stuff takes a lot longer to remember, type, read, and translate than just typing it all out.

Now, does anyone know what "1337 sp3ak" is? I looked it up on that short-hand manual provided by Fidissimus, but it's not on there. _________________ Sarah

Okay Sarah,
Brace yourself... maybe you should sit down for this... remember to breathe....
1337 is short for 'Leet which is short for Elite Speak... one of the first adopted manners of typing on the net. Originally used by hackers, it then spread to teens and pre-teens in the late nineties when everybody wanted to hack, and became even more widely spread with games like Half-Life: Counter-strike. Mostly it's used now by on-line gamers who think they're cool but really aren't.
It's a short hand language that replaces certain letters of the alphabet with numbers or symbols... such as:
1 = l or i
2 = R
3 = E
4 = A
5 = S
6 = G
7 = T
9 = g
0 = O
[< = k
/\/ = n
+ = t
p = o
etc...
For example: d00d, 7h47 1337 m4573r pnd j00'5 455. n00b
Direct translation: Dude, that elite master owned your @ss. Noob.*
English translation: That very cool and skilled gamer just out played you in a mighty way - you are such a looser.
Noob:
1. A person who is new and or inexperienced to an environment, situation, or game, but doesn't admit it. This person also carries the belief that they are experienced / skilled in that environment, when reality proves otherwise.
2. A person who continually fails and does not learn from their mistakes, and repeats the process.
3. A person who isn't all "there" but doesn't realize it.
...and that's probably more than you ever wanted to know about 1337... _________________ Cheers!

Hahaha, I didn't realize my 1337 terms would spook everybody! Sorry about that. FYI, I don't really use that type of talk myself. It's too annoying trying to remember the shortcuts, and then translating what everybody else said. If I do use it I'm mocking those who use it all the time.

FYI again, typing out the English translation while trying to "pwn" some monster will usually get you killed. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Which is truly the best and most acceptable way to use it... _________________ Cheers!
